Hmmm... Ich muß zugeben, daß ich mich an diesen Tag und dieses Spiel wohl noch am besten erinnere.
Mein erstes American Footballspiel... Oh mein Gott...
Hmmm... I have to admit that this is one of the "early" games that I remember the most. My first American Football Game... Oh my God...
Ich weiß bis heute nicht, wie mein Vater es geschaft hat mich DA hin zu schleifen... ich hab echt keine Ahnung...
Until today I can't tell you how my dad managed to drag me THERE... I really don't know...
Nun gut, wir fuhren also da hin... zum Jahn-Stadion. Und ich fragte mich noch wieso ich nicht in der Halle daneben war, weil dort nämlich ALBA Berlin spielt und damals mochte ich Basketball wesentlich lieber!
Well, so we went there... to the "Jahn-Stadion". And I asked myself why I wasn't in the small arena next to it, where our local Basketball team ALBA Berlin was playing, because at this time I really preferred Basketball.
Am Stadion war dann erst mal die so genannte Power-Party... Da waren jede Menge Stände mit Essen und Trinken, ein paar merkwürdige Spielchen konnte man dort auch machen... Und dann war da die Bühne auf der ein Typ war der mit dämlicher Party-Musik eine mehr oder weniger große Menschenansammlung in der klassischen Fan-Kostümierung versuchte in Stimmung zu bringen... Und ich fragte mich nur: Oh Gott, wo bin ich hier hingeraten????
At the stadium there had been the so called Power-Party... there had been a lot of places to buy food and drinks, there you could play some weird little games, and there was this stage where some guy played stupid party-music to entertain a group of weird people dressed up in the team-colors... And I just asked myself: Oh my God, how did I end up here????
Da ich ja Glücklicherweise nichts wegschmeiße und noch den Info-Flyer von diesem Tag habe kann ich euch noch erzählen, daß ich an diesem Tag Wide Reciever Jörg Heckenbach auf der Bühne gesehen habe, sowie die Cheerleader von Thunder und Fire... Aber wirklich erinnern kann ich mich daran nicht... *grins*
Because luckily I don't throw away such things and I still have the "Info-Flyer" from that day, I can tell you that I've seen Wide Receiver Jörg Heckenbach on stage, same as some cheerleaders of Thunder and Fire. But actually remembering this...? No, I don't.
Dann ging es ins Stadion wo dann noch Band Ohne Namen aufgetreten sind.
Then we went into the stadium where "Band Ohne Namen" (German Pop-band) played live on stage.
Das Spiel selber??? Laut meinem Vater war es ziemlich spannend... Ich weiß nur noch, daß ich auf meinem Sitz saß und bibberte! Ich hab so sehr gefroren... Ja, also um ehrlich zu ein war ich ziemlich stinkig... Armer Papa...
The game itself? According to my dad it had been thrilling... I just remember that I was sitting on my seat, freezing! Oh yeah, I was freezing a lot. And that's why I had been in a really bad mood... poor daddy.
Aber das Spiel selber war dann wohl doch interessant... naja, immerhin haben wir gewonnen! *grins*
But the game had to be interesting... because at least Thunder won! *grinning*
Ich weiß nicht mehr wann meine Stimmung dann umgeschlagen ist... aber als wir dann nach dem Spiel so langsam das Stadion verließen fragte ich meinen Vater: "Ok... wann gehen wir wieder???"
Tja... damit war's dann um mich geschehen... naja, mehr oder weniger.
I can't tell you when my mood changed... but when the game was over and we slowly left the stadium, I asked my father: "Ok... when will we do this again?"
Well, with that I fell in love with that game... more or less.

Season 2001: Week 5
Berlin Thunder vs. Frankfurt Galaxy 34:25
Sa. 19. Mai 2001, Kick Off 18:00
Ja, ich war auch bei diesem Spiel!
Yes I also went to see this game.
Und natürlich gab es auch wieder eine Power-Party, die ich dieses mal dann schon nicht mehr ganz so abartig fand. *grins* Und natürlich waren wieder Spieler auf der Bühne sowie der Head-Coach (zumindest sagt das der alte Info-Flyer *zwinker*).
And of course there had been a Power-Party and this time I didn’t feel so much out of place, even if it was still weird... *grinning* And yeah, there had been again some players and the Head-Coach on stage )at least that’s what the info-flyer says *wink*).
Aber... das beste fand neben der Bühne statt. Frankfurt und Berlin können nämlich ganz gut miteinander... und das gilt auch für die damaligen Manager die sich für den „Drunk Tank“ zur Verfügung gestellt haben... Ihr kennt doch sicher dieses Spiel wo ein Clown über einem Wasserbecken sitzt und man muß ein Ziel treffen damit er dann ins Wasser fällt... oder??? Nun ja, kurz vor Einlaß ins Stadion konnten die Berliner Fans den Frankfurter Manager abschießen, und die Frankfurter unseren Michael Lang... Ach waren das noch Zeiten!
But the best thing happened besides the stage. Frankfurt and Berlin somehow like each other.. and that’s the same for their General managers, who took part in the „Drunk Tank“ game. You know that game where (usually) a clown sits over a little pool; you can throw a ball and when you hit the goal the clown drops into the water... Well in this case the Berlin Fans could drown the Manager of Frankfurt, while the Fans from Frankfurt could drown our Manager Michael Lang... Oh those good old times!
Bei der Pre-Game-Show gab es Fallschirmspringer, die im Stadion landeten (laut Flyer)... Und T-Bird (Thunder’s Maskottchen) hat sich bei meinem Vater ausgeheult weil er nicht fliegen kann... (ob das nun im Stadion war, oder vorher bei der Power-Party weiß ich aber nicht mehr...)
At the Pre-Game-Show, there were Skydivers, who did land in the stadium (says the flyer)... And T-Bird (Thunder’s mascot) was crying on my dad’s shoulder because he isn’t able to fly... (if this had been during the Pre-Game-Show or earlier, I can’t really remember...)
Das Spiel selber war auch nicht schlecht... es gab viele Punkte und Punkte werden immer gefeiert...*zwinker* Und hey... Thunder hat gewonnen!!!! Und ich war begeistert und zu diesem Zeitpunkt schon sicher, daß wir’s ins Finale schaffen...*grins* Nur schade, daß es dieser Saison das letzte Spiel für mich sein sollte.
The game itself wasn’t bad... Both teams scored a lot, and scores means celebrating that. And hey... Thunder won!!! And I was completely happy and sure we would make it to the finale that year...m *grinning* It’s just sad that this had been my last game for that season.

Season 2001: World Bowl IX
Barcelona Dragons vs. Berlin Thunder 17:24
Ich glaube ich hatte das ganze im Internet verfolgt, im TV lief das ganze ja nicht. Oder doch??? Es kann auch sein, daß sie’s einen Tag später im TV gebracht haben, bin mir aber nicht mehr sicher. Wie auch immer, das Spiel war wirklich spannend und ich weiß noch wie ich hier zu Hause gejubelt habe als unser Quarterback Quinn im letzten Viertel den Touchdown-Pass an den Mann brachte!!!! 24:17 gewonnen... Was für ein Ergebnis! YEAH!
I’m not really sure, but I guess I followed the finale over the internet, because it wasn’t on TV... or am I wrong and it was on TV??? I can’t remember, it’s also possible I watched on TV a day later, or something like this... But how ever it had been, I was happy when Quarterback Quinn threw the Touchdown-Pass in the final Quarter ! 24:17 for Thunder!!! What a result!

Season 2001: Last Comment
Meine erste Football-Saison bestand zwar nur aus zwei Spielen (ich weiß gar nicht mehr genau warum, aber da spielt jetzt eh keine Rolle mehr...), war aber trotzdem toll...
My first season contained two games I watched (I’m not sure why this had been all, it doesn’t matter anymore anyway...) but it had been really great anyway!
UND Thunder ist ins Finale geschafft... UND Thunder hat gewonnen!!!! Ja, wirklich! Nach dem die Donner-Jungs die ersten beide Saisons als Tabellenletzte beendet hatten habe sie dieses mal gleich den World-Bowl geholt... JUHU!!!!!!!!!!
AND Thunder went to the finale... AND Thunder won the finale!!! Yes, really! After the first two season in which they had been the last in the ranking, thy won the World Bowl this time... YEAH!!!!!!!!!!

Season 2002: Week 2
Berlin Thunder vs. Amsterdam Admirals 19:24
Sa. 20. April 2002, Kick Off 18:00
Endlich wieder American Football... Ja, mittlerweile war ich schon bei "endlich"... *grins*
Finally American football again! Yes... I really thought it was about time!!! *wink*
Das erste Heimspiel der Saison war auch total schön. Klar war auf der Power-Party wieder jede Menge los, und diesmal fand ich das nicht mehr total daneben, sondern richtig lustig! *grins* Frank (Power-Party- und Stadion-DJ) sorgte für eine super Stimmung!
The first home game of the season was really great. Of course there had been a lot of things going on on the Power-Party, and this time I really enjoyed that *grinning* Frank (Power-Party- and Stadium-DJ) really did a good job in entertaining us...
Aber das schönste kam dann im Stadion. Da haben sie den World Bowl hineingefahren und "symbolisch" noch mal ans Team und auch an die Fans "überreicht"... *seufz* DAS war SCHÖN! Ich glaube das gehört wirklich zu den Augenblicken die für mich unvergeßlich bleiben werden.
But the best thing took place in the stadium. During the Pre-Game-Show (so to say) they brought in the World Bowl to celebrate the victory of the previous year, again. *sigh* That was so emotional! I really think that's one of those moments I'll never forget.
Das Spiel selbst war auch gar nicht so schlecht, eigentlich fing es sogar ganz gut an... aber dann hat's doch nicht zum Sieg gereicht. Dennoch war es ein schöner Heim-Saisonauftakt.
The game itself wasn't that bad actually... We really made a good start... But then in the end it wasn't enough... Still it was a good (home game-)start into the season!

Season 2002: Week 3
Berlin Thunder vs. Rhein Fire 16:20
Sa. 27. April 2002, Kick Off 18:00
Leider kann ich absolut nichts zur Power-Party oder zur Pre-Game-Show an diesem Spieltag sagen. Habe keinerlei Informationen mehr darüber...
Sadly I can't tell you anything about the Power-Party or the Pre-Game-Show on this day... I have no information about that anymore...
Das Spiel hingegen war wirklich unglaublich... Thunder hat relativ schnell geführt und zur Halbzeit stand es 10:3 für unsere Jungs. Doch dann wendete sich das Blatt... Nach der Pause machte Fire einen Touchdown, Thunder nur ein Fieldgoal so daß es dann 13:10 stand. Dann folge jeweils ein weiteres Fieldgoal und so stand es dann vor 10 Minuten vor Schluß 16:13! Und auch wenn Thunders Abwehr alles gab, sollte es letztlich doch nicht reichen... 5 SEKUNDEN waren noch auf der Uhr als Fire einen Touchdown landete... 5 SEKUNDEN!!!!
The game itself was unbelievable... Thunder took the lead quickly and after the first half it was 10:3 for us. But then things changed... After the break Fire made a Touchdown, Thunder only a Fieldgoal, followed by another one... 10 minutes before the end it was 16:13! Thunder's defence did everything, but at the end it wasn't enough... 5 SECONDS before the end Fire made a Touchdown... 5 SECONDS!!!!!
Damit sah es natürlich mit 3 Niederlagen in 3 Spielen alles andere als gut aus. Aber da ich ja in solchen Dingen hoffnungsloser Optimist bin, war ich mir sicher, daß das noch lang nicht da Ende war, auch wenn die Presse - und auch mein Vater - nicht mehr an einen Einzug ins Finale glaubten... Ich hielt das durchaus noch für möglich...
With now 3 losses in 3 games things didn't look so good. But in such things I'm optimistic, always... And I was sure they would make it to the finale again... even if I was the only one who thought that.
Deshalb ließ ich es mir auch nicht nehmen mir an diesem Tag meinen ersten Fan-Artikel zu kaufen: eine Mini-T-Bird aus Stoff... Und der war von da ab dann bei jedem Spiel dabei und hat letztlich ja auch Glück gebracht!
And that was also the reason why I needed to by my first merchandise: A miniature fluffy-toy version of T-Bird... and from that day on that toy was always with me at every game... and yes, he had brought some luck!

Season 2002: Week 5
Berlin Thunder vs. Barcelona Dragons 24:14
So. 12. Mai 2002, Kick Off 16:00
*grins* Natürlich hatte Thunder das Auswärtsspiel gegen Amsterdam gewonnen... sogar haushoch mit 28:9!!!! Und auch das fünfte Spiel (dritte Heimspiel) sollte so richtig viel Spaß bringen...
*grinning* Of course Thunder won the away-game against Amsterdam... and how they did it! 28:9 for our boys!!! And the fifth game (third home game) made really a lot of fun...
Wieder weiß ich nichts mehr über die Power-Party zu berichten... Leider... Aber schön war's sicher, denn mit jedem Spiel gefiel mir der ganze Zirkus besser und besser...
Again I can't tell you anything about the Power-Party. But I'm sure it was great, because I liked that event more and more each time.
Dummerweise habe ich auch über das Spiel diesmal recht wenig zu sagen... ist halt doof wenn man kein Tagebuch führt...*zwinker*
Sadly I also don't know much anymore about the game... that the disadvantage if you don't write a diary... *wink*
Aber jedenfalls haben wir gewonnen... gegen die Dragons gegen die wir im Jahr zuvor im Finale gespielt haben... Ok, die Saison lief für die Jungs aus Barcelona alles andere als gut, aber hey... wir waren wieder im Rennen und das war es was letztlich zählte.
But we did win! Against the Dragons who were also our opponent in last years World-Bowl finale. Ok... the season wasn't the best for the Dragons, but still... Thunder was back in the fight for a ticket to the upcoming finale and that was what mattered.
Mein Vater hat dieses Spiel dann folgendermaßen kommentiert: "Super Spiel + Super Stimmung"... Ich denke, daß sagt alles!
And my dad's comment to the game was: "Great game + Great atmosphere" I think that's sums it all up pretty well.

Season 2002: Week 10
Berlin Thunder vs. Frankfurt Galaxy 27:7
Sa. 15. Juni 2002, Kick Off 18:00
Weiß der Geier warum ich an diesem Tag NICHT im Stadion war... Eigentlich hätte ich da dabei sein sollen, denn das Spiel war verdammt wichtig... es ging echt um alles. Aber nein... ich saß statt dessen zu Hause vor dem Computer und hab das ganze über den Live-Ticker verfolgt und hatte dabei die ganze Zeit den kleinen Stoff-T-Bird auf dem Schoß...
I really can't understand why I wasn't at this game to see it live... I should have been there because it was an important game... But I wasn't. Instead I was sitting in front of my computer, with the little T-Bird on my lap, checking the internet-live-ticker...
Ich habe das immer gemacht - bei Auswärtsspielen - hab mit dem Stofftier vorm Monitor gesessen und mitgefiebert. (Deshalb sei es hier nun mal erwähnt, auch wenn ich bei dem Spiel NICHT im Stadion war.)
I've always done that - on away-game-days - have been sitting with that fluffy toy in front of the screen. (That's why I'm mentioning it here, even if I have NOT been at the stadium that day.)
Bei dem Spiel ging es schließlich um den Finaleinzug. Thunder mußte gewinnen um mit Frankfurt gleichzuziehen... und da wir das erste Spiel in Frankfurt verloren hatten, mußten wir auch noch mit mindestens 4 Punkten Vorsprung gewinnen um im direkten Vergleich vorne zu liegen...
This game was like another finale... We had to win to go to fight for the World Bowl, but not only that... we also needed to win with at least 3 points more to be better in the ranking than Frankfurt.
Aber wie sich dann ja herausstellte war das für unser Team gar kein Problem, denn sie siegten mit 27:7!!!
But as I found out that wasn't a problem for our team... Thunder won with 27:7!!!

Season 2002: World Bowl X
Berlin Thunder vs. Rhein Fire 26:20
Sa. 22. Juni 2002
Also wenn ich mich recht entsinne, dann wurde das Spiel mit einer Stunde Verzögerung im TV übertragen. Mein Vater und ich hatten es uns auf dem Sofa gemütlich gemacht und ordentlich mitgefiebert, so als ob wir im Stadion in Düsseldorf sitzen würden.
If I remember it right, then they showed the game on TV with about one hour delay... my dad and me were sitting on the sofa and celebrating as if we would have been in the stadium.
Natürlich war Rhein Fire im heimischen Stadion als Tabellenführer der Favorit... Aber gewonnen haben trotzdem wir!!!
Of course Rhein Fire was the one with "all the chances" being the leader in the ranking and also hosting this match... But we won!!!!
Bereits zur Halbzeit stand es nämlich 20:0... FÜR UNS! Zwar drehte Fire noch mal ordentlich auf, aber letztlich gelang es Thunder doch mit einem Endstand von 26:20 ALS ERSTES TEAM IN DER GESCHICHTE DER NFL-EUROPE den WORLD BOWL ZU VERTEIDIGEN!!!!!!! YEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At the halftime it was already 20:0 for us... Ok, Fire came back, made some points... But at then end we managed with 26:20 FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE NFL-EUROPE HISTORY to DEFENT THE WORLD BOWL!!!!!!! YEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Season 2002: Last Comment
Ein Heimspiel mehr besucht als im Jahr davor. Ein weiterer World Bowl Sieg der in die Geschichte einging! Denn Thunder sind die einzigen denen das jemals gelungen ist den Titel zu verteidigen...
One home game more that I visited. One World Bowl title more... Actually one who will be in the history books of the NFL-Europe because no one else managed to win the title two times in a row.
Ein Hoch auf Todd Husak (Quarterback) der mit seinen Jungs das ganze möglich machte!
Und auch ein hoch auf Axel Kruse (Kicker) und Jörg Heckenbach (Wide Receiver) die als deutsche Nationals bei uns Fans ebenfalls einen bleibenden Eindruck hinterließen.... *zwinker*
Congratulations to Tood Husack (Quarterback) and his team who made this possible! And congrats also to the Nationals Axel Kruse (Kicker) and Jörg Heckenbach (Wide Receiver) who will always have a place in the hearts of the fans... *wink*

Berlin Thunder vs. Rhein Fire 10:21
So. 13. April 2003, Kick Off 16:00
Wow! 1. Heimspiel der Saison. Und das ganze in neuer Kulisse: Das Olympiastadion. Oh Mann... ist das groß! Eine riesen große Baustelle! *lol*
Wow! 1st home game of the season. And all that in a new "home": The Olympic Stadium. Oh man... is that huge! A really really huge construction site. *lol*
Also erst mal war ja wieder Power-Party-Time, diesmal auf dem Maifeld, da der Rest ja wie gesagt "Baustelle" war.
But first there was the Power Party, this time on the "Maifeld" (part of the stadium-area), because the rest of it was - as I said - a construction site.
Die Power-Party war toll - Himmel, waren da viele Menschen!!! Und natürlich waren auch wieder die Cheerleader da und der Trainer mit samt den zwei neuen Quarterbacks. Und das Wetter war auch schön... Super-sonniges Thunder-Heimspiel-Wetter!
The Party itself was great... Oh my.. had there been a lot of people!!!! And of course there were the cheerleader and the Coach with his two Quarterbacks. And the weather was great, too... super sunny Thunder-weather!
Dann ging es ins Stadion... Und WOW... Ich kam da durch den Eingang zum Block... Sah nach links: WoW! Sah nach rechts: WoW! Sah gerade aus: UPS! Da klaffte ein riesiges Loch, weil die Haupttribüne gerade neu gebaut wurde... denn das ganze Stadion wurde ja saniert... Sah schon irgendwie komisch aus.
And the we went into the stadium... and WOW... I came in to the block where our seats were... Looked to the left: WoW! Looked to the right: WoW! Looked straight in front of me: OOPS! There was just a big hole in front of me, because the Seating places there were actually re-built that time. The whole stadium was renovated during that time... Looked kind of weird.
Als Pre-Game-Show gab es zuerst einen Aufmarsch der Feuerwehr die mit ihren Fahrzeugen ins Stadion fuhren um das Rhein Fire zu löschen. *zwinker*
As Pre-Game-Show there had been fire-fighters with their cars coming into the stadium... to put out the Rhein Fire. *wink*
Und in der Halbzeit trat das Dance-Trio Mr. President auf! War zwar nicht meine Musik aber sonst SUPER!
And in the Halftime, there was the group Mr. President on stage (making dance-music)... Wasn't really the music that I like, but still good!
Überhaupt war die Stimmung absolut genial, was ja auch bei 16312 Zuschauern kein Wunder ist (neuer Rekord)...
The atmosphere had been great anyway... which wasn't really a wonder with 16312 people there (new record)..
Das Spiel selber war leider nicht ganz so toll. Zur Halbzeit lag Thunder schon 3:14 hinten... Das Glück schien im neuen Stadion noch nicht auf unserer Seite zu sein... Oder lag es an der mangelnden Kriegsbemalung des Rasens (Thunder- und NFL-Europe-Logo) weil ja unser Fußball-Team Hertha BSC die Reste unserer Logos nicht bei ihren Spielen gebrauchen konnte... Ich weiß es nicht... Auf der anderen Seite hatten jetzt die Fans sogar ihr eigenes riesen Trikot auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite über den Sitzen aufgespannt bekommen... Weil wir - die "Nummer 12" im Team doch der wichtigste Mann auf dem Feld sind... *grins*
The game itself wasn't that good, sadly. At the halftime Thunder was already behind with 3:14... It seems the Luck didn't found it's way into the new stadium, yet... Or was it because of the missing Thunder-signs on the field...?? Because we share the stadium with our local Soccer team Hertha BSC and they of course didn't want that (and they play far more game there then Thunder...) I don't know... On the other hand we had a huge tricot put over the seats on one side, for the number 12 of the team, the fans - actually the most important player on the field... *grinning*
Im letzten Viertel fiel dann auch endlich der erste Thunder-Touchdown im neuen Stadion (obwohl ich schon das Feuerwerk vermißt habe, mit dem wir das immer Jahn-Stadion gefeiert hatten). Doch Rhein Fire siegte letztlich mit 21:10.
In the last Quarter there finally was the first Touchdown for Thunder in the new home (even if I missed the fireworks to celebrate it). But in the end Rhein Fire won with 21:10.
Dennoch war es ein schöner Tag... Doch doch, an das Olympiastadion kann man sich gewöhnen!!!
Anyway it was a good day... and yes, you could get used to that new place!!!

Season 2003: Week 4
Berlin Thunder vs. Scottish Claymores 17:34
So. 27. April 2003, Kick Off 16:00
Eigentlich wäre ich an diesem Tag ja nicht zum Football gegangen, aber mein Vater hatte Freikarten aufgetrieben... Und so habe ich dieses mal meine Mutter mitgeschleift!
Actually I didn't plan to go to the game that day... because I didn't like the idea of going alone... But my father got free tickets and so I dragged my mother with me!
Für sie war es das erste mal und sie hat etwas gegen Menschenansammlungen... die Arme. *zwinker*
For her it was her first game and she doesn't like to big crowds of people... poor woman. *wink*
Die Power-Party war wieder schön. Unser Head-Coach Peter Vaas hatte am Tag zuvor Geburtstag und wir - die Fans - haben ihm ein Ständchen gesungen.
The Power-Party was great as always... Thunder's Head-Coach Peter Vaas had his birthday the day before. And when he was on stage we sang Happy Birthday for him...
Außerdem hab ich mir an dem Tag mal ein "GameDay" (das offizielle Stadionmagazin) gegönnt (das gab's mit den Freikarten zum halben Preis), was ich ab da an dann auch jedesmal getan habe. Steht nämlich eine ganze Menge drin in dem Heft!
And I bought a "Game Day" that day (the stadium-magazine) which was cheaper with the free tickets. And from that time I bought one every game, because actually there's a lot of interesting stuff written into it.
Dann ging es ins Stadion. Leider waren die Freikarten-Plätze nicht ganz so toll... Oberrang, also viel zu weit weg vom Spielfeld und den lauten Fans. Aber es war ok, für 0,00 Euro!
Then we went into the stadium. Sadly the places weren't that good as usual, but for no money it was ok... In the upper region, much too far away from the field and the loud fans!
Ansonsten stand dieser Tag ganz im Zeichen der 80er Jahre und der neuen deutschen Welle. Als Pre-Game-Show gab es Fräulein Menke was ganz ordentlich für Stimmung sorgte. Und in der Halbzeit gab es jede Menge Spaß mit Geier Sturzflug deren Lieder wir eifrig mitgesungen haben!
The whole game day was dedicated to the 80's. As Pre-Game-Show we had a performance from Fräulein Menke and in the halftime there was Geier Sturzflug on stage. Both very successful German acts during the 80's. It was a lot of fun and me an my mom we sang along...
Das Spiel selber war leider wieder nicht so toll... Und das obwohl wir schnell den ersten Touchdown hatten. Und ein weiterer folgte, nachdem Running Back Allan als Kick Off Return einmal fast über's ganze Spielfeld rannte! Dennoch reichte es nicht für den Sieg. Aber was soll's? Was zählt, ist das man Spaß hat... und den hatten wir!
The game itself wasn't that good... sadly... again... Even if things started good and we made a quick Touchdown... And there was this second touchdown, after Running Back Allen ran nearly across the whole field with the ball after the Kick Off... That was the longest Kick Off Return I've ever seen. But at the end it wasn't enough. But that doesn't matter. What mattered was the fun... and believe me, we had, we had!

Was für ein Tag... Was für ein Wetter! Es war soooooooooooo heiß!
What a day... What a weather! it was sooooooooooo hot!
Wie immer war ich zur Power-Party schon anwesend... und wieder war die Stimmung klasse!
Like always I was there when the Power-Party started.... and again the atmosphere was great!
Im Stadion dann auch ordentlich was los. Als Pre-Game-Show-Act gab es die Doubles von Stars In Concert! "Elvis" sang sein Jailhouse Rock und Viva LasVegas gab's auch... Toll!!
In the stadium, there had been a lot of things going on, too. As Pre-Game-Show-Act there had been the Doubles of Stars In Concert! "Elvis" sang Jailhouse Rock and Viva Las Vegas they performed too... Great!!
In der Halbzeit-Pause trat eine band namens A24 auf... ob die nun gut oder schlecht waren, kann ich heute aber nicht mehr sagen...
In the halftime-break there was a band playing called A24... if they had been good or bad??? I really don't remember...
Was ich aber sagen kann... ist das es verdammt LAUT im Stadion gewesen ist! Bis zum Kick Off war es noch relativ ruhig, aber dann war echt die Hölle los! Ich weiß nicht ob es an der brütenden Hitze lag, das die Fans noch mehr Lärm machten, oder was auch immer... Aber wirklich... so laut hab ich das noch nicht erlebt. Da wurde geschrien, gepfiffen, getrötet und geklatscht das einem die Ohren sausten... WAHNSINN!
But what I can tell you is that it had been damn LOUD in the stadium! Until the Kick Off the fans had been calm, mostly... because of the heat. But then all hell broke lose! I don't know if it was the hot weather, or whatever, but we've been as loud as never before. There were clappings and whistlings and screamings and, and, and... It had be so loud that my ears were ringing, later...CRAZY!
Und es schien als hätten unsere Jungs von Thunder das auch gespürt. Denn, vom letzten Viertel mal abgesehen, haben die Jungs ein super Spiel gemacht und letztlich den ersten Sieg der Saison eingefahren! Glückwunsch!
Alles in allem war's also echt ein wahnsinns Tag!
And it seemed that the boys of Thunder noticed that, too. Because except for the last quarter they made a great game down there on the field. And so this ended up to be the first home-victory of this season! Congratulations!
All together this was an amazingly great day!

Berlin Thunder vs. Frankfurt Galaxy 27:14
So. 7. Juni 2003, Kick Off 19:00
Letzes Heimspiel der Saison... Die Chance auf's Finale ist schon lange dahin. Aber dennoch wollen wir ein gutes Spiel sehen... Und es fing ja auch schon gut an, denn mein Vater ergatterte bei der Power Party ein Autogramm von Head-Coach Peter Vaas.... *freu*
Last home game of the season... The chance to go to the World Bowl Finale was long gone. But still we wanted to see a good game... And it started all very well, because my dad managed to get an autograph form Peter Vaas, the Head Coach... *doing-the-happy-dance*
Die Pre-Game-Show ins Stadion bestand aus einem Auftritt von Kim Sanders. War musikalisch nicht ganz so mein Geschmack, aber es war hörbar.
The Pre-Game-Show was a performance form Kim Sanders. Not really my kind of music but it wasn't bad...
In der Halbzeit-Pause gab es dann eine Motorcross-Show. War schon beeindruckend wie die Jungas auf ihren Maschinen durch die Lüfte flogen!
In the Halftime there was a motorcross show... Really impressing how those guys jumped through the air on their bikes.
Das Spiel selbst war auch gut und spannend... Und der Sieg war trotz des miesen Tabellenplatzes doch ein schöner Saisonabschluß!
The game itself had been good and exiting too... And the victory was a good close up for this season, even if Thunder was the last in the ranking!

Season 2003: Last Comment
Man kann ja nicht immer den World Bowl holen, oder? Das wäre ja dann auch langweilig! Der Umzug ins Olympiastadion war, denke ich, eine gute Sache... auch wenn Thunder auf einer Baustelle spielte.
Well, we can't win the World Bowl every year, right? That would be kind of boring! The move to the Olympic Stadium was a good thing, I guess... even if Thunder played on a construction site.
Und letztlich hat Berlin Thunder doch seine eigene Statistik bestätigt! Entweder sie sind am Ende im Finale... oder Tabellenletzter!!!
And at the end, Thunder proved it's on statistic to be right... Either they are going to the World Bowl Finale or they are the last in the ranking!!!
Und wer weiß, vielleicht schaffe ich's ja in der nächsten Saison mal zu allen Spielen zu gehen...
And maybe I'm able to see all game the next season... who knows...

Season 2004: Preview
Ich glaube es war mitte März als sich Berlin Thunder wieder in meine Gedanken drängte. Und ich hatte nur einen Wunsch: ich wollte zu allen Heimspielen! Nur leider, schien es mal wieder nicht möglich... es sei denn, ich würde alleine gehen... Aber eigentlich wollte ich das nicht.
I think it was in the middle of March when Thunder came to my mind again. And I had only one wish: I wanted to see all home games! But unfortunately this seemed impossible again... except if I would go alone... which I didn't really want.
Dennoch... die Tickets für's erste Spiel (sogar mal wieder Freikarten *zwinker*) hatte ich schon... Und ich freute mich wirklich wahnsinng darauf wieder ins Stadion zu gehen!
Anyway... the tickets for the first game I already had (free tickets again *wink*)... And I was really really excited to go to the stadium again!
Nur eine Sache war schade. Barcelona war nicht mehr dabei. Statt dessen war nun eine Mannschaft aus Köln mit dabei, die zu allem Überfluß auch noch von unserem Ex-Head-Coach trainiert wurde...
The only sad thing was, that Barcelona left the league. Instead there would be a new team from Cologne, who to top it all were trained by our former Head-Coach...

Season 2004: Week 1
Berlin Thunder vs. Scottish Claymores 20:14
So. 4. April 2004, Kick Off 16:00
Das erste Spiel der Saison... Logisch war ich dabei... Alles begann recht annehmbar... Auch wenn mir zunächst die alte Power-Party-Bühne fehlte... Aber durch die Stadion-Sanierung war wohl einfach kein Platz, weswegen die Power-Party vom Maifeld zum vorderen Eingangsbereich des Olympiastadions wanderte. Aber dadurch war ja sowieo erst mal alles anders und man mußte sich erst orientieren... Naja, von dem Drumherum hab ich beim ersten Spiel ohnehin nicht so sehr viel mitbekommen... Denn, da wir Freikarten hatten wurde das ganze zum Familienausflug umfunktioniert... *zwinker*
First game of the season... and of course I had been there. Everything started well, even if I missed the old Power-Party-stage. But because of the renovation of the stadium there wasn't enough space and so the Power Party moved from the "Maifeld" to the open place at the stadium entrance... But because of that everything was different anyway, so I need a little to find out what was where... And to top it all this day had been a family-day (we had free tickets again) so there wasn't much of partying anyway. *wink*
Aber ich hab ein Autogramm bekommen - oder besser meine Mutter, ich kaufte mir da gerde einen Hot Dog - von Martin Kesici (Starsearch-Gewinner)...

Der trat dann auch als Pre-Game-Act im Stadion auf. War ganz ok...
He also performed in the Pre-Game-Show in the stadium... it was ok...
In der ersten Viertel-Pause wurde dann nochmals unser ehemaliger Kicker Axel Kruse geehrt, der leider nicht mehr aktiv dabei ist.
In the first quarter-break Axel Kruse, our former Kicker was honored for all his work... it's sad that he doesn't play anymore.
Aber ich muß zugeben... im Stadion, als wir da im oberen Rang saßen, da wurde es so richtig kalt... Obwohl wir vorher noch richtig schönen Sonnenschein hatten. Dennoch tat das der Freude über das Siel keinen Abbruch, denn wie führten zur Halbzeit mit 10:7! Aber warum rutschten denn die Spieler da unten auf dem Platz so oft weg??? Und dann bemerkten wir es erst... es schüttete!!!! Es regnete Bindfäden!!!! Die armen Cheerleader waren auch schnell total durchnäßt... die ärmsten haben sich in ihren knappen Kostümen sicher den Hintern abgefroren. *zwinker*
But I have to admit... when we were sitting there in the upper part of the stadium... well I started freezing! It was really cold up there... Just a few minutes before we had sunshine, and now??? But that didn't stop the good mood and happiness, because it was Thunder-time again... And we had the lead at the halftime with 10:7! But why did they slip so much down on the field?????? And then we noticed it... it was raining cats and dogs!!!! And also the poor cheerleader where completely wet from the rain...*wink*
In der Halbzeit-Pause sollte es dann eigentlich noch mal eine Motorcross-Show geben, was dann aber auch Buchstäblich ins Wasser fiel.
In the halftime there was supposed to be a motorcross show again, but that was literally drowned, too.
Aber ich hatte das echt bisher noch nicht erlebt, daß es beim 1. Heimspiel (so) geregnet hat... (Ok, mein Vater war mal bei einem Spiel - allerdings auch nicht das "erste der Saison"), vor meiner Zeit, das über eine Stunde wegen Gewitter unterbrochen war... *grins* Aber mir war sowas noch nicht passiert. Ich denke das war 2000.)
But really, I never experienced this before, that it was raining soooo much and even not on the first home game of the season... (Ok, my dad was once at a game which they had to put on hold for over an hour because of a thunder-storm... But I wasn't with him that day... I guess that was in 2000.)
Letztlich scheint es aber etwas für sich gehabt zu haben, denn dieses war auch da erste "erste Heimspiel" in der Vereinsgeschichte, das Thunder gewonnen hat!!!!
At the end it seemed to be a good effect, because it wasn't only the first "first home game of the season with rain", it was also the first time that Thunder won the first home game!!!!!!

Season 2004: Week 3
Berlin Thunder vs. Cologne Centurions 35:31
So. 18. April 2004, Kick Off 16:00
Eigentlich wäre das ein Spiel gewesen, was ich zu Hause vor dem TV verfolgt hätte... Denn meine "übliche Begleitung" hatte keine Zeit... Doch glücklicher Weise gibt es da eine wirklich liebe Freundin die fast allen Scheiß mit mir mitmacht...
Actually this would have been one of those games I would have watched on TV... because my usual company didn't have time that day. But luckily there is this really good friend of mine who's doing nearly everything with me if I give her a reason...
Und Dank Sealink wurde es dann auch so richtig genial!
And thanks to Sealink it had been a real good day!
Bei der Power-Party standen wir an der Skoda-Bühne... Denn dort wurde in dieser Saison die Stimmung gemacht, dort traten die Spieler auf! Ich dieses mal auch Autogramme bekommen...von Tank Reese (Defensive Tackle) und Jonathan Ruffin (Kicker) und von T-Bird. Und ein kleines grünes Skoda-Bärchen hab ich auch bekommen!!!!!!! Hab einfach den "Moderator" oder wie auch immer man den Herrn bezeichnen sollte, ganz lieb gefragt... *zwinker*
At the Power Party we had been at the stage from Skoda (sponsor) where all the action took place that year. There the players went for interviews. And this time I also got autographs... from Tank Reese (Defensive Tackle) and Jonathan Ruffin (Kicker) and from T-Bird. And I also got a little cute green Skoda-bear!!! I just talked to the "Moderator" or whatever you'd call him... *wink*
Sealink hatte zu dem Zeitpunkt wohl auch jede Menge Spaß... zumindest war sie selbst auf Autogramm- und Souvenier-Jagt (Puschel, Luftballons, Gummiebärchen usw...)
Sealink had also a lot of fun at that time, at least it seemed so. At least she was also chasing for autographs and souvenirs (like balloons and gums and so on...)
Dann im Stadion war es auch wieder genial. Diesmal wieder im Fan-Block, wo die Stimmung ja logischer Weise am besten ist...
Then we went to the stadium... it was so cool to be back in the fan-area, there the atmosphere is the best, of course...
Zur Pre-Game-Show fuhren diesmal 50 Trikes ins Stadion, und brachten die Cheerleader mit, während Riff-Raff (absolut geniale AC/DC-Coverband) das ganze musikalisch untermalten.
As Pre-Game-Show there were 50 Trikes bringing the cheerleaders into the stadium, while Riff-Raff (an absolutely great AC/DC-coverband) gave us the soundtrack to that...
Das Spiel selber war auch super... ach was, mehr als das (auch wenn die Kölner für meine Geschmack ein bischen viel Punkte machten...) Nicht einmal eine Minute war vergangen, da warf unser Quarterback Rohan Davey einen super langen Pass zum Touchdown in die Endzone. Und kaum 5 Minuten später, fing unser National Jörg Heckenbach einen weiteren Touchdown-Pass! Damit stand es stand 14:0 und es war noch nicht mal die Hälfte des ersten Viertels vergangen. Leider kamen die Kölner im zweiten Viertel dann auch zum Zuge (was u.a. an dem etwas unglücklichem Händchen unseres zweiten Quarterbacks lag) so daß es zur Halbzeit dann 28:21 stand.
The game itself was great... Even more than that (even if Cologne made a few too much points for my liking). Not even one minute went by as our Quarterback Rahan Davey threw a really long pass into the endzone... Touchdown!!! And not even 5 minutes later our National Jörg Heckenbach caught another Touchdown-pass. With this the score was 14:0 and not even the half of the first quarter had gone by. Sadly the guys from Cologne did make some points too in the second quarter (which was also partly the fault of our unlucky second Quarterback) so that it was 28:21 at the halftime.
In der Halbzeit trat dann noch Natasha Thomas auf. War auch ganz ok, auch wenn's nicht ganz so mein Geschmack ist.

In der zweiten Halbzeit hielten sich die Teams dann mehr oder weniger die Waage... was dann im 35:31 Endstand endete... Aber Thunder hatte gewonnen!!!! Schon wieder!!!!! Genial!!!!!!
In the second half both teams were kind of equal which let to the final result of 35:31... But Thunder has won! Again! That's so great!!!!
Naja, als Sealink mich dann nach dem Spiel fragte, was ich denn am 2.5. machen würde und ich ihr sagte, daß ich, wenn ich jemanden fände der mitkommt, wieder ins Stadion gehen würde... Da sagte sie: "Ich bin dabei!" Und schon war ein weiterer Football-Fan geboren *freu* (Naja, mehr oder weniger *zwinker*) Und für mich hieß das, daß ich zum ersten mal alle 5 Heimspiele besuchen würde.... *freu*
Well, after the game Sealink asked me what I'd do on May 2nd... and I said if I would find someone to come with me again, I'd be at the stadium... Well and she said "I'm in!" So another American Football fan was born *smile* (at least partly)... And for me that meant I'd be able to watch all 5 home games!!!! *celebrating*

Berlin Thunder vs. Amsterdam Admirals 33:29
So. 2. Mai 2004, Kick Off 16:00
Nach dem Spaß den Sealink und ich beim letzen Spiel hatten, waren wir dieses mal auch mit unseren Kameras bewaffnet um den Spaß auch bildlich festzuhalten (Wobei meine Freundin mit ihrer Digi-Cam da natürlich eindeutig im Vorteil war).
After the fun we had last year, we took our cameras with us this time, to save those wonderful moments for eternity (well, of course the digital camera of my friend was a huge advantage).
Wir haben uns mit T-Bird fotografieren lassen und auch sonst ein paar witzige Bilder gemacht! Und natürlich waren wir wieder an der Skoda-Bühne. Und es gab auch wieder Autogramme... Von National Christian Mohr (Defensive End) und Jim Tomsula (Defensive Coordinator).
We've made pictures wit T-Bird and some more funny pictures... And of course we were at the Skoda-stage and got pictures and autographs from Christian Mohr (Defensive End) and Jim Tomsula (Defensive Coordinator).
Dann im Stadion, gab es die Motorcross-Show, die beim ersten Heimspiel ja wegen des schlechten Wetters ausfallen mußte. Echt beeindruckend!
Then in the stadium there was this motorcross show, which was actually planed for the first game... Really impressing!
Auch die Stimmung war wieder klasse... aber wenn man bedenkt daß Thunder die ersten 4 Spiele gewonnen hat, war das ja auch kein Wunder.
Also the atmosphere was really great again... But when you take into account that Thunder did win the first four games then this wasn't really a wonder...
Das Spiel selbst war wirklich spannend... Zumal Amsterdam ziemlich zügig in Touchdown-Nähe kam... dann aber selbst den Field-Goal-Versuch in den Sand setzte. Aber auch Thunder's Kicker traf das Tor nicht wirklich... und so stand es zur Halbzeit 12:7.
The game was really exciting, especially because Amsterdam quickly came close to a touchdown, but then even didn't do the Fieldgoal. But also Thunder's Kicker didn't hit the goal... and so it was 12:7 at the halftime.
In der Halbzeit gab es dann eine Hunde-Frisbee-Show... hmmm... Fand ich eher unspektakulär.
At the half time there was a dog-frisbee-show, which was unspectacular if not boring... well that's my opinion.
In der zweiten Halbzeit gab es dann auch noch wieder einige Punkte (macht ja auch mehr Spaß als wenn ein Spiel blos 7:3 ausgeht, oder so...). Teilweise war es sogar richtig eng. Aber letztlich hatte Thunder die Nase vorn und gewann mit 33:29... Damit waren wir mit 5:0 Siegen Tabellenspitzenreiter!!!! So was gab es noch nie... wenn ich daran denke, das Thunder bis dahin die Saisons mit 0:3, oder 0:4 begonnen hatte, dann grenzte das schon an ein Wunder!
In the second half there had been some more points on both sides (makes more fun to have a game with lot's of pints then one which ends like 3:7 or so...) And some moments things had been really close to losing... but Thunder was the better team in the end and won with 33:29. With this we were leading the ranking with 5:0 victories!!! Something like this happened never before with Thunder. And when I think back that Thunder usually started with 0:3 or 0:4 into the season, than THIS was really a miracle.
Schade nur das Jörg Heckenbach sich beim letzten Auswärtsspiel verletzt hatte. Hoffentlich ist er bald wieder fit.
It was just sad that Jörg Heckenbach got hurt at the last away game and couldn't play. Hopefully that won't last too long...

Season 2004: Week 7
Berlin Thunder vs. Rhein Fire 33:20
So. 16. Mai 2004, Kick Off 16:00
Hm... das letzte Auswärtsspiel hatte Thunder knapp verloren... das war schon ärgerlich, aber es hob auch das Spannungsniveau etwas an... *zwinker* In der Tabelle standen wir aber mit 5:1 Siegen immer noch auf Platz 1. und wenn Thunder gegen Fire gewinnen würde... dann wäre sie schon nach dem 7. Spiel sicher im Final! WOW, das gab’s auch noch nie!!!
Hmm... the last away game Thunder lost, but it had been really close... yeah that was sad but in the other hand it let the excitement, the tension grow... *wink* In the ranking we had now 5:1 victories, Thunder was still number one. And if our boys would win this day, then we would be 100% in the World Bowl finale... and that after the seventh week... that never happened before!!!!!
Doch zunächst...Zunächst war wieder Power-Party angesagt... Und weil es wirklich Sahara-heiß war, hab ich mir noch so einen Thunder-Hut gegönnt... Wollte ja keine Panne kriegen, in der prallen Sonne... Sealink und ich waren dann wieder an der Bühne und haben uns Autogramme geholt... Diesmal waren die Preluders (Popstars zweit Plazierte) auf der Skoda-Bühne zu Gast zum Interview und Autogramme schreiben.
But first... First it was time for the Power party, again... And because it was hot like in the Sahara, I bought myself a Thunder-hat... didn’t want my brain to get grilled... Of course Sealink and me were at the stage again to get autographs.... The time the Preluders (popstars second winners) there for interviews and so on...
Und auch von Don Eck (einer der Trainer) und einem Spieler, dessen namen ich im Nachhinein nicht mehr herausfinden konnte (kann mir jemand weiterhelfen?), gab’s Autogramme.
And also Don Eck (one of the Coaches) and and a player, who’s Name I can’t find out anymore (does anybody know him?). had been there to sign our stuff...

Später im Stadion gesellte sich noch mein Vater zu uns... Und nun saßen wir da und fieberten dem Einzug ins Finale entgegen... *zwinker* Doch zunächst gab’s erst mal wieder Musik. Diesmal von Jelena (ehemalige Viva-Moderaorin) deren Rock-Song gar nicht mal schlecht war.
Later in the stadium, may dad arrived, too. And so we sat there hoping for the GO for the finale... *wink* But before there was the Pre-Game-Show where Jelena (Former VIVA-VJ) sag a few songs, not that bad, really I liked it.
Dann begann das Spiel, und es war wirklich spannend... Auch wenn Thunder zur Halbzeit schon 17:0 In Führung lag.
Then the game started and it had been really exciting, even if at the halftime Thunder had the lead with 17:0!
In der Halbzeit Pause traten die Preluders auf, was auch ganz ok war... vermutlich sogar gut, wenn man solche Musik mag... *zwinker*

In der zweiten Spielhälfte schien es erst so als würde diese Partie ein Kinderspiel, schnell stand es 24:0... Doch dann kam Rhein Fire in fahrt... (Wobei: Meinen Glückwunsch an Rhein Fire. Einen Kick-Off-Return der direkt zum Touchdown führt... das sieht man auch nicht alle Tage!)
In the second half it seemed like the game was a kids game... quickly the score was 24:0... But then Rhein Fire came back.... (by the way. Congratulations to Rhein Fire... A Kick Off Return leading directly to a touchdown... that something you don‘ t see all day!)
Dennoch gewann Thunder deutlich mit 33:20. YEAH! So was gab es noch nie... Noch nie stand bereits nach dem 7. Spiel ein Teilnehmer des World Bowls fest!!!!! Einfach ... WOW!
Nevertheless Thunder won with 33:20... YEAH! This happened never before... Jut seven weeks and we already knew that Thunder would be in the World Bowl Finale!!!! That’s simply... WOW!
Nach dem Spiel sind wir dann raus... und wer kam uns im "Tunnel" entgegen... Jörg Heckenbach!!!!! (Der ärmste war zu der Zeit verletzt und deshalb nicht unten auf dem Platz.) Wir haben uns natürlich Autogramme geben lassen. Und dann hat mein Vater uns noch mit ihm fotografiert... *cool* Das war echt ein genial-schöner Tag!
After the game we left the stadium... and who crossed our path while we left our seating-area...???? Jörg Heckenbach!!! (the poor man is still not able to play...) Of course we asked for autographs and we also made pictures with him... *cool* That really was an amazingly good day!

Berlin Thunder vs. Frankfurt Galaxy 41:0
So. 6. Juni 2004, Kick Off 16:00
Wieder hatten wir bestes Thunder-Wetter. Schade, daß Sealink diesmal nicht dabei sein konnte, denn es war wirklich lustig.
Again we had great sunny Thunder-weather... Sadly couldn't be with us, because it was really great and funny again...
Auf der Power-Party hab ich wieder Autogramme bekommen. Von Jörg Heckenbach (Wide Receiver) und von Shuan Fatah (National Coach)... Und natürlich habe ich auch wieder jede Menge Fotos gemacht... u.a. eins von mir und Eddi, dem Skoda-Teddy. Die Power-Party war echt lustig. Die Stimmung war sehr ausgelassen, auch wenn alle paar Minuten der Strom ausfiel... *zwinker* So spielte T-Bird zum Beispiel "Sackhüpfen" mit einem Pappkarton... *grins*
At the Power-Party I got autographs again, from Jörg Heckenbach (Wide Receiver) and Shuan Fatah (National Coach)... And I made lots of pictures, for example with Eddi (the teddy from Skoda... Oh and the Party was really funny. The atmosphere was great and relaxed, even if the power went down every few minutes which was kind of funny...*wink* So for example T-Bird played with a box, jumping around while they tried again to fix things... *grinning*
Im Stadion war auch viel los... Die Fans waren richtig heiß... schließlich spielte Thunder gegen Galaxy gegen die sie 6 Tage später auch im Finale spielen sollten...
Inside the stadium the fans were like crazy about this game... Well, we played against Frankfurt, the team we would also play again in the finale just 6 days later! So of course everyone was excited.
Die Pre-Game-Show war auch klasse. Eine große Marchingband zog durch Stadion. Leider war die Musik etwas sehr leise (ohne Verstärker so zu sagen), aber dennoch schön anzusehen.
The Pre-Game-Show was great, there was a huge Marchingband playing... sadly the sound was a little too low..., but it really looked beautiful!
Lustig war es auch, als Stadion-Sprecher Frank für die Abwehr ein spezielles Lied spielte, was die Spieler wohl sehr gerne mochten... so als Überraschung... Da hat man auf dem Spielfeld dann echt die Köpfe mitwippen sehen und ein paar drehten ihre Köpfe kurz Richtung Tribüne... *lol*
Another funny thing was when Stadium-DJ Frank played a special song for our defence, something they seemed to like very much... and when the song stated to play you could see the heads of them starting to not with the rhythm and some of them even turned their heads to the direction of the fans... *lol*
Und eine Motorrad-Show gab's auch wieder... diesmal mit schweren Maschinen.
And a show with motorbikes was there, too... this time with heavy bikes.
Das Spiel selber war echt grandios! ECHT DER WAHNSINN!!!!!! Nach dem ersten Viertel dachte ich noch, daß es genau das Gegenteil von dem wird, was in Frankfurt los war... nämlich kaum Punkte, weil beide Mannschaften eine super Abwehr hatten... Naja... nach den zwei Fieldgoals gab's gleich noch 2 Touchdowns hinterher... und auf Seiten der Galaxy??? Nichts!... und so stand es zur Halbzeit schon 20:0!
The game it self was just huge! REALLY CRAZY!!!!!! After the first quarter I thought that exactly the opposite thing would happen then at the away game ion Frankfurt: Non points, because they both had a great defence... But then.. after two Fieldgoals from Thunder, there had been two Touchdowns following. And on the site of Galaxy??? Nothing! And so it was 20:0 at the halftime!
Das Olympia Stadion stand buchstäblich Kopf! Hab ich eigentlich schon erwähnt, daß mit 19175 Zuschauern ein neuer Besucher-Rekord aufgestellt wurde?
Of course all the fans went crazy about this! That was definitely something to celebrate... Oh have I mentioned... with 19175 visitors, this was an new record in this category.
Aber zurück zum Spiel. Nach derb Halbzeitpause ging das Punkte-Festival weiter. Und unsere Super-Jungs machten 3 weitere Touchdowns bis zum Spielende... Und Frankfurt...??? *grins* Nichts! 41:0 war der Endstand! Der höchste Sieg in der Geschichte der NFL-Europe!!! *GENIAL*
But back to the game... in the second half the festival of scores went on... Our super-boys did 3 more Touchdowns until the end... And Frankfurt??? Nothing!!!!! The finale score was 41:0!!! The highest victory in history of the NFL-Europe! *Amazing*
Fragte sich nur, ob Galaxy wirklich so schlecht ist, oder ob sie sich für den World Bowl schonen wollten...???

Berlin Thunder vs. Frankfurt Galaxy 30:24
Sa. 12. Juni 2004
Leider fand das Spiel in Gelsenkirchen statt... Und das war mir doch zu weit... und vor allem zu teuer...
Und deshalb noch mal hier an dieser Stellen ein ganz dickes Dankeschön an Sealink, bei der ich das Spiel live auf Premiere gucken konnte... *knuddel-dich*
Sadly the game took place in Gelsenkirchen... and that was too far away for my liking... and to expensive...
And therefore at this place: Again a big thank you to Sealink who gave me the opportunity to watch the game live on PayTV...*'hugging-you*
Und so saßen wir dann bei ihr auf der Couch aßen Popcorn und genossen das Spiel...
And so we sat on her sofa, ate Popcorn and enjoyed the game...
Im Vorfeld hatten wir ja befürchtet, daß es ein hartes Spiel werden würde und das Frankfurt bei uns mit Absicht verloren hatten... *grins*
Before the game we had been speculating that Frankfurt has lost the last game against us to make Thunder feel save... *grinning*
Nachdem es dann aber nach wenigen Sekunden und OHNE das unser Angriff auf dem Feld war, bereits 7:0 für uns stand... glaubte ich letzteres dann doch nicht mehr...
But after we made the first Touchdown just after a few seconds even without our offence on the field, I wasn't thinking that anymore...
Allerdings kann ich auch nicht sagen, daß Thunder wirklich überragend war... gerade zu Anfang gab es da echt Ballverluste im Minutentakt... auf beiden Seiten!!! Dann gab es jedoch doch noch ein paar Punkte. Zur Halbzeit stand es dann 10:10! Es war also noch alles offen...
But on the other hand I can't say that Thunder played a better game either. .. Especially at the beginning there had been turn overs ever minute... on both sites!!! Anyway, both teams scored here and there s that at the halftime it was a tie (10:10).
Und dann... in der zweiten Halbzeit... was für ein Spielzug! Unser Quarterback Rohan Davey gab den Ball an seinen Mitspieler... der warf den Ball über mehr als das halbe Spielfeld zu Ches Gessner der den Ball in der Endzone fing!!!! Danach folgten zwei Fieldgoals und ein weiterer Touchdown... Frankfurt machte dann zwar auch noch mal ein paar Punkte. Aber Thunders Vorsprung reichte zum 30:24 Endstand!
Then... in the second half... what a play-action... Our Quarterback Rohan Davey gave the egg to another player... and this player threw the ball over half of the field to Ches Gessner who caught the ball inside the endzone!!! After that there were two Fieldgoals and another Touchdown... Frankfurt did also score this time, but it wasn't enough... And so Thunder won with 30:24!
YEAH Thunder hat gewonnen! THUNDER HAT DEN WORLD BOWL XII GEWONNEN!!!!!!!!! *freu* Das ist so super-mega-toll!!!!!!!!
YEAH Thunder won! Thunder won the World Bowl XII. Again they had won the glass-globe, for the third tome to be correct.... *doing-the-happy-dance* That was really the best season ever!!!

2004 war für Thunder echt eine perfekte Saison... 9:1 Siege und dann noch den World Bowl!!!! Einfach phantastisch...

Und für mich...? Nun ich hatte zum ersten mal ALLE Spiele live gesehen, ich hatte mit Sealink einen wahnsinns Spaß auf den Power-Partys... und noch viel mehr Spaß bei den Spielen! Diese 2 1/2 Monate werden mir wirklich unvergeßlich bleiben!
And for me...? Well I've seen all five games for the first time live! I had a lot of fun with Sealink on the Power-Party... and even more fun at the games... Those 2 1/2 months I'll surely never forget!

Season 2005: Preview
Vorfreude ist die schönste Freude!
Anticipation is the greatest joy!
Etwa eine Woche vor Saisonbeginn. Ich war schon richtig gespannt auf's erste Spiel. Klar, daß Heckenbach nicht mehr dabei sein würde, das hatte ich auch mitbekommen... Fand ich echt schade!
About one week and the new season would start... And I was really excited about the first game. Sure, I heard that Heckenbach wouldn't play anymore... really sad!
Ansonsten war ich erst mal froh, daß ich schon die Karten für die ersten beiden Spiele hatte. Zuerst war da ja die Frage, wo wir überhaupt sitzen würden, da diesmal die Plätze auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite verkauft wurden, also dort wo die eigentliche (nun fertige) Haupttribüne ist. Aber dann hatte sich das auch geklärt...
And I'm really happy to have my tickets already... first I wasn't sure about the seats, because now that the stadium is finished we moved to the other side of it... And I wasn't sure were the fans would sit... But that's solved now...
Auch auf die Power-Party in diesem Jahr, war ich gespannt... Ob es nun wieder die große Power-Party-Bühne geben würde? Und wer wohl beim ersten Spiel in der Halbzeit auftreten würde???
And the Power-Party... *grinning* Will the large old stage be back?? Who will be performing??? And what will the Halftime Show will be like??
Ach ich freute mich schon... Hoffentlich wird am Thunder-Samstag auch wunderschön-sonniges Thunder-Wetter sein!
Oh I was so excited... Hopefully on Thunder-Sunday we'll have sunny Thunder-weather!

Season 2005: Week 1
Berlin Thunder vs. Frankfurt Galaxy 30:7
Sa. 2. April 2005, Kick Off 18.00
Thunder gegen Galaxy. Sozusagen die Neuauflage des World Bowl-Finales des letzten Jahres.
Thunder vs. Galaxy. So to say the new version of the World Bowl Finale of the last year.
Power-Party-Beginn war um 15.00h. Dank dem Pendelverkehr der S-Bahn wären wir beinahe noch zu spät gekommen... Aber das ist ein anderes Thema.
Power-Party started at 15.00h. and thanks to some workings on the S-Bahn I almost got there too late. but that's another topic to discuss at another place.
Als Sealink, der graue Wolf (mein Vater) und ich dann im Olympiastadion ankamen, war mein erster Gedanke: "Oh ja... so riecht nur ein Thunder-Tag!" Und es war ja auch ein "Thunder-Tag" im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes. Selbst die Sonne feierte mit!
Well, when we (Sealink, der graue Wolf (my dad) and me) reached the Olympic stadium, my first thought was: "Oh... only a Thunder-day smells like this!" And it was a Thunder-day, really... even the sun was celebrating with us!
Zuerst standen wir an der Skoda-Bühne. Dann machte uns der "Moderator" dort darauf aufmerksam, das Jörg Heckenbach am Eingang umher lief... Sealink und ich sind dann auch gleich hin und haben uns Autogramme geholt. *freu* Ich fand es ja total schade, das der gute nicht mehr für Thunder spielte. Um so mehr hab ich mich über das Autogramm gefreut. Dann sind wir zurück zur Bühne, wo dann noch D'Marco Farr einer der Coaches auftrat. Von dem hab ich nun auch ein Autogramm.
First we had been at the Skoda-Stage again... and the DJ there told us that Jörg Heckenbach was walking around there too... And we saw him and of course asked for autographs and took pictures. *smile* I'm really sad that he isn't playing for Thunder anymore. The more happy I was about the autograph. Then we went back to the stage where D'Marco Farr, one of the Coaches gave an interview and signed autographs, too.
Anschließend sind wir dann zur Bühne von 104.6RTL gegangen, wo die Cheerleader auftraten. Nur Schade, das wir die alte Power-Party Bühne wohl doch nicht wiederbekommen...
Then we went to the stage of 104.6RTL (radio station) where our cheerleaders where performing. It's just sad that we as it seems won't get back the old Power-Party-stage.
Und dann ging es auch schon hinein ins Stadion. Dort gab es dann einen Auftritt von mehreren Gospelchören und den Cheerleadern im Sinne von "Sister Act". Eine unserer Cheerleader hat Amazing Grace gesungen... mmmmm Ich liebe dieses Lied! War echt toll! Naja, und dann wurde noch mal so richtig der World Bowl-Gewinn des letzten Jahres gefeiert, und Heckenbach war auf der Bühne... War sehr schön!
Then we went into the stadium... There in the Pre-Game-show was a performance of some gospel choirs and our cheerleaders in the sense of "Sister Act". One of our cheerleaders sang "Amazing Grace"... mmmmmm I love this song! Really great! Well and then we celebrated the World Bowl victory of last year and Heckenbach was on stage too... for the last time... Was really emotional.

Tja und dann begann das Spiel! War auch sehr schön... Bereits zur Halbzeit stand es 17:0, was wir unter anderem Quarterback Dave Ragone und Running Back Little John Flowers zu verdanken hatten.

Zweimal haben die Thunder-Spieler die Frankfurter so richtig verarscht... zweimal war das Punt-Team auf dem Feld beim Fourth Down, doch anstatt zu punten, haben sie ein Laufspiel und damit dann ein neues First Down gemacht! YEAH!!!!! Das war KLASSE! (Vor allem, weil die Frankfurter gleich zweimal darauf reingefallen sind!!!!!
Two days we really played tricks on those guys from Frankfurt. Two times the punt team was on field... and both times they didn't punt but ran and made the new First Down! YEAH!!!! (especially because they did that two times! *lol*)
Schade war bloß ein bißchen, daß die Tochdowns von Thunder alle auf der anderen Seite gemacht wurde, anstatt vor unserer Nase... Aber besser so, als gar keine Punkte! *zwinker* Und bei 30:7 waren das eine ganze Menge gründe zum Feiern!
The only "not-that-good"-thing was that all touchdowns happened on the other side of the field, and not in front of our nose. But better this way than getting no points, right? *wink* And with 30:7 there had been a lot reasons to celebrate!

Was für ein Tag - was für ein Spiel!
What a day - what a game!
Um kurz nach 13.00h waren wir am Olympiastadion. Diesmal war die "große Action" an der 104.6RTL-Bühne! Neben einigen amüsanten Spielchen, sorgte besonders T-Bird mit seinen Tanzeinlagen für gute Laune!
Short after 13.00h we reached the Olympic Stadium. This time the big action was only on the stage of 104.6RTL! Besides some funny little games, T-Bird's dance performances brought a lot of fun!
Und dann sind dort auch Christian Mohr (Defensive End) und Jim Tomsula (Defensive Coordiantor) zum Interview dagewesen. Autogramm gab es natürlich auch... und ein Foto mit mir und Christian Mohr!!!! Beides sind übrigens sehr nette Zeitgenossen. Besonders Jim Tomsula (von dem ich auch letztes Jahr ein Autogram bekam) ist ein richtiger "Strahlemann" *grins* Nein, ernsthaft. Sie sind beide echt sympathisch!
And then there had been Christian Mohr (Defensive End) and Jim Tomsula (Defensive Coordiantor) for interviews and autographs... and I got a picture together with Christian Mohr!!!! Both men are really nice people. Especially Jim Tomsula (from whom I also got an autograph last year) is always friendly always smiling... *grinning* No, really, both are very nice!
(Das 3. Autogramm - oder besser das erste in der Reihe hier - könnte, wenn ich das jetzt richtig einordne von einem GZSZ-Schaupsieler sein, den ich nach einem Spiel im Gang getroffen habe... Ich bin mir halt nur nicht 100%ig sicher, ob dies bei diesem Spiel war... allerdings wüßte ich auch nicht von wem sonst das Autogramm sein könnte... jaja, ich weiß... ich hätte mir das gleich aufschreiben sollen... Hinterher ist man immer schlauer!)
(The third autograph - or better the first in this row - could be from a German soap-opera-actor, who I met after one game... I'm just not sure if this happened at this game... but on the other hand I don't know who else could have written this... Yeah, yeah, I know, I should have written that down right after it happened... later you're always wiser!)
Anschließend sind dann noch die Cheerleader beider Mannschaften aufgetreten... Tja und dann ging es ins Stadion.
After that there had been the cheerleaders of both teams performing... yeah and then we went into the stadium.

Hab ich erwähnt, daß mir, trotz all des Spaßes ziemlich sau-kalt war? War gerade einen Tag vorher aus dem Urlaub zurück... Das war ein echter Temperaturschock!
Have I mentioned that despite all the fun it had been really cold? I just had returned from vacation the day before and that was a real temperature-shock!
Als "Pre-Game-Show" im Stadion gab's dann einen Seemannschor...und über die Leinwand wurde Karaoke-mäßig der Text eingespielt! *lol*
As Pre-Game-Show Act we had a choir who sand old sailor-songs... and over the video wall the showed - karaoke-like-the lyrics... *lol*
Und dann das Spiel! ... WOW... By the way: Ein Lob an die Hamburger Fans: Man hat zwar (was Trikots, Fahnen etc. anging) nicht wirklich viel von euch gesehen, aber um so mehr von euch gehört. Dafür, daß euer Team so jung ist und bisher nur Auswärts gespielt hat, war das echt beachtlich!
And then.. the game! WOW... By the way: I lift my head for the fans of Hamburg: We couldn't see much of you (meaning Shirts, flags and stuff like this) but we heard you... a lot!!! Taking into account that your team is new to the league and you had only away game until now... that was really good!
Aber das Spiel? Nein... das war der reinste Thriller! Beide Mannschaften hatten eine verdammt gute Abwehr, die im Falle von Thunder auch punktete. Es stand nämlich ziemlich schnell 2:0 als einer unsere Jungs den Hamburger Quarterback in seiner eigenen Endzone zu Fall brachte. Aber dann hat sich Thunders Abwehr eine Strafe nach der anderen eingehandelt (ob berechtigt oder nicht, ließ sich von den Sitzplätzen aus nicht wirklich entscheiden, aber es waren schon merkwürdig viele Strafen auf einmal... aber von den Spielern hat keiner protestiert...) Und so stand es zur Halbzeit 5:6.
But the game? No... that was a real thriller! Both teams had a damn good defence. In case of Thunder, the defence even made some points! It was quickly a 2:0 after on of our boys pulled down the Quarterback from Hamburg in his own endzone. But then our defence got one penalty after another (if those fouls were real or not, you couldn't really see from the seats we had, but no one complained, so I guess they were). And so at halftime it was 5:6.
In der Halbzeit trat einen Newcomerband namens Poolstar auf... War eigentlich ganz gut, haben schön gerockt.

Dann ging das Spiel weiter. Zwar gab es dann etwas weniger Strafen, aber das Spiel lief deshalb noch lange nicht besser...
Then the game went ... And ok, there had been less penalties but the game didn't went on better... Our offence just didn't found their way... And then???
Dann waren noch 2 Minuten spielen, es stand 15:13 und die SeaDevils hatten den Ball!!! OH - MEIN - GOTT!!! So wie das Spiel bisher lief... Ich meine, den SeaDevils hatte ja ein Fieldgoal gereicht!!! Und als sie dann eine Minute vor Schluß bereits so gut wie in Reichweite waren, war in meinen Augen, und auch wohl in den Augen der meisten anderen, das Spiel gelaufen... Ich hatte echt nicht geglaubt, daß das noch zu Retten war.
Then there had been 2 minutes left on the game-clock the score was 15:13 and the SeaDevils had the ball!!! OH - MY - GOD!!! Taking into account how the game went on until that moment... I mean, a Fieldgoal would have been enough for the Hamburger. And then came really close already and there was still a minute to play... And I thought - same as most of the other in the stadium, I'm sure - that this was it, that we would lose this game....
Und dann passierte das Unglaubliche! Der Quarterback der SeaDevils warf einen Paß... Und einer aus der Thunder-Defense griff nach dem Ball konnte ihn aber nicht halten. Doch da war noch ein anderen aus der Defense und der fing ihn!!! JAAAA! JAAAA! Mann, mir ist fast das Herz stehen geblieben, aber... das war der Sieg! JAAA!!!! WOW! WAHNSINN!!!! Es gibt doch noch Wunder! *zwinker*
And then the unbelievable happened. The Quarterback from Hamburg threw the ball... And one from our defence tried to catch it, but couldn't. But there was another from our players and he caught it!!!!! YEEEES! YEEES! Man, my heart skipped a beat... but with this WE WON!!! YES!!! WOW!!!! UNBELIEVEBALE!!! There are still miracles... *wink*

Oh mein... Oh mein Gott... Nein... Was für ein Spiel!... WAHNSINN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh my... Oh my God... no... What a game!... CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bin pünktlich um 15.00h am Stadion gewesen. Das Wetter war grandios schön... und warm...
I was there right on time at 15.00h. The weather was great... and war...
Wir sind dann ein bischen umher gelaufen und letztlich an der 104.6RTL-Bühne gelandet... Dort gab es wieder allerhand amüsante Spielchen... *grins* Und dann sind Chris Dishman, ein Trainer und Daryl Dixon, ein Spieler von Thunder da gewesen... Und ja, ich hab wieder Autogramme *freu*... Und ich hab auch eins vom Manager von Thunder! (Wurde ja auch mal Zeit nach all den Jahren! *zwinker*) Michael Lang hat sogar ne Widmung mit drauf geschrieben! *freu*
We've walked around a little first, before we went to the 104.6RTL-stage... There had been some funny games again...*grinning* And then there had been Chris Dishman, one of the Coaches and Daryl Dixon, a players of Thunder and yes I also got autographs... *smile* And I even got one from the manager of Thunder! (was about time after all those years, right? *wink*) Michael Lang even wrote some special greetings for me... *smile*
Hab ich erwähnt, daß es an dem Tag mal wieder verdammt heiß war??? So heiß, daß zwischen durch die Power-Party eher einem Sitz-Streik glich!
Have I mentioned that it was so damn hot again that day??? It was so hot that the Power-Party partly seemed to be more like a sit down strike!!!
Danach ist auf der Bühne noch so ein Rapper aufgetreten, aber das ist halt nicht meine Welt...
Then there was a Rapper performing on stage... but that's not my world...
Dann ging es ins Stadion. Dort spielte dann eine Oldie-Cover-Band namens "Oldie Company". Die haben echt für gute Stimmung gesorgt... War mal wieder eine richtig gute Pre-Game-Show.
Then inside the stadium there was an Oldie-Cover-Band playing named "Oldie Company"... That was really good and finally a really good Pre-Game-Show.
Und dann ging es los... Aber wie...
And then the game started... but how...
Die ersten Punkte gingen an die Admirals! Waren aber nur 3! Dann haben die Jungs Thunder einen Touchdown gemacht! (Endlich mal einen bei uns an der Seite! *freu*) Dann machten die Admirals, nach einigem hin und her, auch einen Touchdown... *jammer* Danach folgte ein Fieldgoal von Thunder... und kurz vor Halbzeit haben die Admirals dann ihrerseits ein Fieldgoal versemmelt!!!!! *nä-nä-nä-nä-nä* Es stand zur Halbzeit also 10:10!
The first points went to the Admirals! But it had been only 3... Then the boys of Thunder did a Touchdown! (Finally one on our site of the field! *smile*) Then the guys from Amsterdam made a Touchdown *whining* and that was followed by a Fieldgoal from Thunder,,, short before the halftime. And then the Admirals tried a Fieldgoal, but the kicker missed it!!!! So at the halftime it was 10:10!
Hab ich erwähnt, daß es im Stadion total laut war??? Soooooooo LAUT! Muß wohl auch an der Hitze gelegen haben, das wir Fans alle noch ein kleines bischen mehr Gas gegeben haben...
Have I mentioned that it was so loud in the stadium??? Sooooooooo LOUD! Maybe the was because of the heat too, that we - the fans - all gave a little more for our team...
In der Halbzeit gab es dann eine BMX/Skatebord/Rollerblades-Show... war ganz nett...
Then in the break there was a BMX/Skateboard/Rollerblade-Show... was ok...
Aber viel schöner war "Hey Baby" von Anfang bis Ende ausgespielt! Und das ganze Stadion hat mitgesungen... Überhaupt war die Stimmung heute einfach grandios! SO LAUT war der 12. MANN (also die Fans) schon lange nicht mehr! Einfach GENIAL!
But much better was "Hey Baby from the beginning to the end, played completely! And the whole crowed sang along... Well, the atmosphere hadn't been that good in a long time anyway... So LOUD! So GREAT!
Dann ging es weiter! Und gleich wieder mit einem Touchdown... für Thunder! *freu* Die Admirals machten im Gegenzug ein Fieldgoal! Nun gut... es stand immerhin 17:13 für Thunder... O.k.... Kurz danach... ich weiß nicht mehr genau wie es dazu kam... machten die Admirals noch ein Fieldgoal... und dann... nach wieder einigem hin und her (was wirklich an meinen Nerven zerrte) machte Thunder dann ebenfalls wieder (nur) ein Fieldgoal zum 20:16... *schnauf*
Then the game went on. Quickly another Touchdown... for Thunder! *smile* The Admirals did a Fieldgoal... Well that meant 17:13... Alright... I can't really tell how all this happened, but then the Admirals made another Fieldgoal, and after some back and forth, Thunder did one too, so that it was now 20:16 *sigh*
Also dann noch 2 Minuten zu spielen waren, waren die Admirals wieder am Zug... und sie kamen unsere Endzone bedrohlich nahe... zu nahe.... viel zu nahe... 28 Sekunden vor Schluß (im Football kann das eine sehr lange Zeit sein) konnte ich dann nicht mehr hin gucken... hab mich unter meinem Hut versteckt und die Augen geschlossen... denn die Admirals brauchten keine 10 Yards mehr zum Touchdown, und dann hätte Thunder verloren! Ich konnte das einfach nicht mehr mit ansehen!
Während ich also nur hinhörte, schlug dann plötzlich die Stimmung von pfeifendem Anfeuern unserer Defense in frenetischen Jubel um! ... Ich also sofort aufgeblickt... Und da lief einer unserer Abwehrspieler (Jermaine Mays)... mit dem Ball... und lief... in Richtung Endzone der Admirals... und lief... und lief... und... JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Machte den Touchdown! 27:16!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAHNSINN!!!!!! Was für ein Krimi! Was für ein Spiel!!!!!!!!!!!
So while I was just listening I heard how the sound turned from concentrated cheering for our defense to celebrating... So I looked up immediately... and there was one of our defense players (Jermaine Mays) running... with the ball... and he ran... and ran.... into the direction of the endzone of the Admirals... and he ran... and ran... and... YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He made the Touchdown!!!!! 27:16!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Season 2005: Week 7
Berlin Thunder vs. Rhein Fire 24:15

Du meine Güte... JAAAAAAAAA!!!!
Oh my Goodness... YEEEEEEEEES!!!!
Aber von Anfang an... Auf Grund des wirklich saumäßiges Wetters bin ich erst etwas später ins Stadion gefahren. Trotz des Nieselregens (der später dann stärker wurde) hatte ich auf der Power-Party jede Menge Spaß... Spieler hab ich dieses Mal zwar keine gesehen, aber dafür (mal wieder) ein paar GZSZ-Schaupieler...
But let's start from the beginning. Because of the really bad weather I went a little later to the stadium... Even if it was slightly raining (later it rained more) I had a lot of fun on the Power party. Players sadly hadn't been there this time, but I saw some actors from a German soap opera called "Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten" (again)...
Und ja, klar hab ich mir ein Autogramm geholt. Auch von Judith Hildebrandt, die auch aufgetreten ist...
And yes, of course I asked for an autograph... and also I asked Judith Hildebrandt, who performed on stage, for one, too...
(Naja, so ganz Stimmt das mit den Spielern nicht... denn der nette Mensch, der auf der Skoda-Bühne immer den Moderator spielt, ist ein Ex-Football-Spieler...)
(Well, the thing about the players isn't completely the truth... because the nice man from the Skoda-stage is a former American Football-player...)
Die Pre-Game-Show im Stadion bestand aus einem Auftritt von The BossHoss... Ich weiß nicht, ich steh ja nicht so auf Country aber die Cover finde ich schon recht witzig.
The Pre-Game-Show was really good... The BossHoss performed live.... I don't know... I don't really like Country Music but the cover songs from them I like... they are funny...
Dann begann das Spiel... und es lief alles anderes als Gut... was ich jetzt mal einfach auf's Wetter schiebe, denn beide Mannschaften punteten im ersten Viertel eigentlich nur hin und her... Wirklichen Raumgewinn konnte keiner erzielen. Erst zum ende des ersten Viertels gelang Thunder ein kleiner Vorstoß, der dann im 2. Viertel in einem Touchdown endete. YEAH! Nur leider, muß ich zugeben, daß Fire eigentlich besser war... zumindest zu diesem Zeitpunkt. Zudem gab es einige kuriose Szene die ich gar nicht in Worte fassen kann... einige waren zum Lachen, doch die meisten eher zu weinen... *zwinker* Zur Halbzeit stand es jedenfalls 10:12, Thunder lag also mal wieder hinten.
Then the game started but it didn't went very well... Which I blame on the weather because both teams were mostly punting the egg... really yards none of them made. It was at the end of the first Quarter, when Thunder managed to move forward... which lead to the first Touchdown at the beginning of the second Quarter. YEAH! But sadly I have to admit that Fire played the better game... at least at this time. To top it all there had been some really weird scenes that I can't put into words... some had made me laugh, other nearly made me cry...*wink* At the halftime the score was 10:12, so Thunder was behind... again...
Die "Halftime-Show" war auch nicht so wirklich spannend, was sicher auch am schlechten Wetter und dem ungünstigen Spielstand lag...
The Halftime Show wasn't really exciting... which was the fault of the weather and the not that good score at that time...
Im dritten Viertel sahen wir dann schon alle Hoffnungen schwinden, als es dann 10:15 stand, nachdem bei Thunder nix lief, und Fire wenigstens ein Fieldgoal schaffte... Die Fans machten wirklich wieder mächtig Stimmung, mit Tröten, Trillerpfeifen und allem was eben dazu gehört... aber daß schien auch nicht zu helfen...
In the third Quarter we saw all hope gone when it was 10:15 and Thunder got nothing right down there on the field. The fans really made a lot of noise with everything you can imagine, but it didn't seem to help either...
Doch dann...!!! Dann kam die Wende... und Thunder machte zum Ende des dritten Viertels einen Touchdown zum 17:15! O.k., daß ist kein großer Vorsprung, wenn man bedenkt, daß ja ein Fieldgoal schon 3 Punkte bringt! Aber irgendwie lief es auf einmal... zwar nicht perfekt, aber es lief... und Fire schien außerdem wohl auch ein bischen die Puste auszugehen! *zwinker* Dennoch... Punkte blieben auf beiden Seite erst mal wieder aus...
But then... then things started to move and Thunder made a Touchdown at the end of the third quarter... 17:15... ok not much when you take into account that a Fieldgoal means 3 pints already... but still, things seemed to go a little better now... And Fire seemed to become more and more tired. *wink* but anyway... those were the only points for a while...
Aber dann... im letzten Viertel... Erst lief es auch wieder nicht so toll... und zu diesem Zeitpunkt wollte ich auch noch nicht so recht daran glauben, daß der Sieg gelingen könnte. Dazu passierte da auch dem Spielfeld zu viel Mist. Doch dann war Thunder im Angriff, und dann war es soweit... nach einem atemberaubenden Lauf über das halbe Spielfeld... YEAH EIN WEITERE TOUCHDOWN! Damit stand es dann 24:15!!!! YES! Und dabei blieb es dann auch... *grins* Es war also kein brillantes, dafür aber ein sehr spannendes Spiel mit glücklichem Ausgang!
But then in the last quarter... first it wasn't that good... I didn't want to believe in the victory, yet... Because there was too much shit happening down there on the field... But then we had the ball again... and after a breathtaking run over the field... YEAH NOATHER TOCHDOWN!!!! With this it was 24:15!!! Yes!!!! And it stayed like this!!! *grinning* Ok, it wasn't a brilliant game but an exciting one, with a happy ending!
Und: Thunder hat nun 10 Heimspiele in Folge gewonnen, und das ist NFL Europe Rekord! YES!!!
And: Thunder won the 10th home game in a row... and that was a new record in the NFL Europe! YES!!!

Season 2005: Week 10
Berlin Thunder vs. Cologne Centurions 13:17
So. 5. Juni 2005, Kick Off 16.00
Als erstes fuhr ja die S-Bahn nicht... wir also mit der U-Bahn hin... Und als wir dann auf dem U-Bahnhof ankamen? Jepp... GEWITTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Und zwar nicht zu knapp... Es blitzte und krachte und dazu groß es aus Eimern!
First the S-Bahn wasn't working... So we had to go to the stadium by the underground. And when we got there and wanted to leave the train station??? There was a huge thunder storm... there were flashes and thunders and brained cat's and dogs.
Nach etwa 15 Minuten legte sich das dann aber wieder, so daß wir dann zum Stadion los konnten...
After about 15 minutes it was almost over, so that we could go to the stadium, finally...
Die Power-Party war trotz des Regens recht lustig. *grins* meine Mutter (die dieses Mal mit war) hat sogar mit T-Bird getanzt... *lol*
The Power-Party was great, even if it rained... *grinning* My mother (who was with me that day) even danced a little with T-Bird! *lol*
Rick Lantz, der Head-Coach war auch auf der Bühne, hatte aber keine Zeit für Autogramme...

Musiktechnisch gab es da eine Newcomerin, deren Namen ich mir nicht gemerkt hab, denn mein Geschmack war das halt nicht unbedingt...
There was a newcomer on stage performing, but I don't remember her name... Not really what I like...
Und dann ist noch Michael Seymore aufgetreten... Auch ein Newcomer... Aber das war echt richtig cool!!! Und deshalb hab ich mir auch gleich ein Autogramm geben lassen...
But then there was Michael Seymore (also a newcomer) who was pretty good... And therefore I asked him for an autograph, which I got...
Und dann waren auch dei Cheerleader wieder da... ALLE!!!! Alle auf der kleinen Bühne!
And then the cheerleaders had been there, too... ALL!!! All on that small stage!
Tja, dann ging es ins Stadion, wo als Pre-Show Joana Zimmer auftrat... naja... war schon beeindruckend... Aber eben auch nicht meine Musikrichtung... Doch es gab noch eine weitere Überraschung... Es waren auch Plätze auf der Gegentribüne besetzt! Zum ersten Mal!!!!!
Then, in the stadium, there was Joana Zimmer performing. Really impressing how she acts on stage, even if she's blind... you really don't notice it. But her music is more pop that rock so again, nothing for me. But it's something you can hear at least... Oh and there had been another surprise... they sold tickets on the other side of the stadium! For the first time!!!! (Usually they are only selling tickets on one site...)
Dann begann das Spiel... Und es begann gar nicht mal sooooooo schlecht... Aber auch nicht gut... Erst lag Thunder 0:3 hinten. Dann kam das 3:3 und dann das 10:3... Endlich ein Touchdown! YES!
Then the game began... And it started not that bad actually... but not good either...*wink* First Thunder was behind with 0:3, then it was 3:3 and then a Touchdown to 10:3! YES!
In der Halbzeit gab es dann wieder Musik... wieder von "Rapper" P. R. Kantate, der war ja schon mal da... und ich fand ihn auch damals schon doof... aber naja...
In the halftime there was music again... P. R. Kantate, a German Rapper, the one who had been at a game before... and back then I said the same... stupid and... really NOT what I like.
Dann gab es noch etwas zu feiern... einen Zuschauerrekord! (war ja zu erwarten, wenn sie Plätze auf der Gegentribüne verkaufen...) 20927 Zuschauer! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But then there was something to celebrate again... A record of viewers. 20927 people had been in the stadium!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In der zweiten Hälfte schien, nach dem Wechsel des Quarterbacks, wieder mal nix mehr zu laufen... Trotzdem gab es immer hin das 13:3 für Thunder... dann war aber endgültig der Ofen aus... Viele vergebene Chancen für Thunder und zwei Touchdowns für die Kölner... Und das Ende vom Lied: 13:17
In the second half, with the new Quarterback, nothing seemed to work...a gain... but they made the 13:3... but then that was it... to many wasted chances for Thunder and two Touchdowns for the Cologne Centurions... So that means? Yes: 13:17

Ja, eins noch: IST DOCH TOTAL EGAL, WIR WAREN DOCH EH SCHON IM FINALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, one thing: I REALLY DON'T CARE BECAUSE THUNDER IS IN THE FINALE ANYWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Und deshalb haben wir dann trotzdem gefeiert, mit Feuerwerk und Rückblicken auf eine doch eher durchwachsenen Saison 2005!
And that's why we celebrated anyway... with a firework and some memorable videos of the not really good, nor bad season 2005...

Berlin Thunder vs. Amsterdam Admirals 21:27

Nun gut... Erstens waren drei der wichtigsten Spieler verletzt und zweitens gab es mehr als einen guten Grund (auch aus Sicht der NFL Europe), daß Amsterdam gewinnen sollte... Also... nein, ich habe nicht an einen Sieg geglaubt! (Und nein, ich sage nicht, daß die Spiele manipuliert sind, ich dachte nur es wäre für fast alle da beste, wenn Amsterdam gewinnen würde)
Well... first there were three important players sick and therefore missing, and second there had been more than one good reason (from the point of view of the NFL Europe) that Amsterdam should win. So no, I didn't believe in a victory. (And no, I didn't say that the games are manipulated, I just thought that it would be better for nearly everyone, if Amsterdam would win!)
Deshalb hab ich mich am Samstag dann auch nicht vor meinen Computer gehockt um im Internet irgend welche Zwischenstände abzurufen... Statt dessen war im Kino (Star Wars), was übrigens sehr schön war!
Therefore I didn't sit in front of the computer on Saturday and watched the live-ticker... no, I was at cinema watching Star Wars, which was great by the way...
Als ich nach Hause kam hab ich dann natürlich mitbekommen, das Thunder verloren hat... nun gut, ich hatte es ja nicht anders erwartet...
When I got home, of course I noticed that Thunder lost... and well, that was just what I had expected...
Sonntag dann... tja, da saß ich dann doch ab 18.00 vor der Glotze und hab auf TV.B die Aufzeichnung vom Spiel geguckt.
Then on Sunday... well... yet I sat on front of my TV at 18,00 to watch the game on TV.B, a regional TV station...
Beinahe hätte ich den ersten Touchdown gar nicht gesehen, weil kurz nach Spielbeginn das Telefon klingelte... Hab dann aber doch im rechten Moment zum Fernseher geguckt... Kam ja reichlich spät... kurz vor der Halbzeitpause!
And I almost missed the first touchdown, because my telephone was ringing right at the beginning... But luckily I looked up right on time to see it... happened really late anyway... Short before the Halftime!
Ab da an hab ich mich das richtig auf's Spiel konzentriert... aber...naja, wenn man das im TV sieht...ganz alleine... und noch dazu das Ergebnis kennt... es reist einen halt nicht wirklich vom Hocker...
From that moment I concentrated on the game... but well... on TV it isn't that good to watch, because you don't have that overview like in the stadium... and when you then even know the result...
ABER: Man was war das denn für ein Finish? Das war ja SO knapp! Wenn der den Ball doch nur gefangen hätte!!!! DANN WÄRE DAS KURZ VOR SCHLUSS DER AUSGLEICH GEWESEN!!!!!! Und dann hätte es Verlängerung gegeben! Und dann hätte Thunder gewinnen können!!!! Nein, so ein Mist... und da bin ich dann doch auf meinem Bettchen hin und her gehüpft...*lol*
BUT: What a finish this had been??? That was SO close! If that player of ours just had caught that ball!!! THEN IT HAD BEEN A TIE AT THE END!!!! And then it had been overtime and then Thunder would have had the chance to win this thing... Oh no... what a pity!!! But at this time, even if it was not live, even if I was not there, I was bouncing up and down on my bed excited... *lol*

Season 2005: Last Comment
Die Saison war durchwachsen... Thunder hatte oftmals mehr Glück als Verstand... Dennoch haben sie's ins Worldbowl Finale geschafft, sie waren sogar Tabellenerster! Aber als es dann darauf ankam hat Thunder fast die ganze erste Halbzeit verpennt! In so fern hat Amsterdam verdient gewonnen!
The Season was neither good, nor bad... There had been a lot of times where Thunder had more luck than brain... Still they made it too the finale...They had even bin the first in the ranking... But when it counted (in the finale) Thunder slept through the first half of the game... So really: Congratulations Amsterdam, you deserve this!
Aber dennoch war es eine schöne Saison mit allerlei Fun!
Anyway... for me it was a good season, and I had a lot of fun!

Season 2006: Preview
3 Wochen vor dem ersten Spiel (das Dank WM etwa einen Monat früher stattfinden sollte als sonst) und ich hatte absolute keine Ahnung... Ich hatte so viel mit meiner Arbeit zu tun, daß das Thema Football beinahe völlig an mir vorbei gegangen wäre... Aber nur beinahe! *zwinker*
Only three more weeks to the first game (which would be about a month earlier this year - thanks to the Soccer World Cup) and I had absolutely no idea... I had so much work that the topic Berlin thunder almost passed by, completely unnoticed. But only almost... *wink*
Mist fand ich, daß Michael Lang DER Manager von Thunder gefeuert wurde... irgendwie finde ich den neuen ziemlich unsympathisch... ob das was werden würde??? Aber beeinflussen kann man das ja eh nicht... leider!
It's sad that they kicked out Michael Lang, THE general manager of Thunder... Somehow I don't like that new guy... I'm wondering where this will end. But I can't change that anyway...
Wie auch immer... Fragte sich nur noch ob es (bei dem Wetter zu dieser Zeit) einen Saison-Start im Schnee geben würde...
What ever... The most interesting question was: Will we have season-start in the snow???

Season 2006: Week 2
Berlin Thunder vs. Rhein Fire 0:22

Was für ein Tag... Ich werd NICHT über das Spiel selbst reden....
What a day... I will not talk about the game itself...
Um etwa 13.00h saß ich zu Hause an meinem Computer und fragte mich echt ob das ganze so gut ist... Es war kalt es regnete... Alles andere als Wetter wie's bei Thunder üblich ist (Sonne satt). Aber sowas kommt halt davon wenn man die Saison wegen der Fußball WM nen ganzen Monat vorverlegt.
Around 13.00h I sat at home on my computer and asked my self if all this is such a good idea... It was cold and raining... everything else than the usually "Thunder"-weather (which means a lot of sun). But that's what happens, if they start the season one month earlier, just because of the soccer world championship.
Nun... etwas in der Art hatte ich schon erwartet, weil meine ganze Woche eher Scheiße war... ABER SOWAS HATTE ICH NICHT MAL IM TRAUM GEDACHT! Aber von Anfang an...
Well... I've expected something like that, just because my whole week was kind of shit... BUT I HAD NEVER EXPECTED SOMETHING LIKE THAT! But from the beginning...
O.k., letztlich entschieden wir dann uns etwas später zu treffen, da wird bei der Kälte nicht unbedingt naß bis auf die Haut werden wollten bevor es ins Stadion geht. Dann kaum einem drittel unserer Truppe noch was dazwischen so daß ich mich erst mal alleine mit der leicht kranken Sealink getroffen habe...
Alright... at the end we decided to meet a little later because, of the cold weather, we didn't want to be wet to the skin before we could enter the stadium. And then, one of our "group of three" had to come a little later, so that I had to met the slightly ill Sealink alone.
Am Stadion angekommen (Power-Party ist ja davor) war es kalt nass und neblig... ABER TOLL! SO TOLL... Oh wie ich das vermisst hab!
Reaching the stadium (or better the place before it), it was cold, and wet and foggy... BUT GREAT! SO GREAT! Oh how I missed that...
Zuerst kaufte ich ein paar neue Fan-Artikel und dann sind wir zur Power-Party-Bühne wo, weil wir ja schon etwas spät dran waren, bereits ein paar Spieler und Trainer interviewt wurden. Also haben wir uns das angesehen und hinterher gab's dann noch ein Autogramm von Safety Oliver Flemming (denke ich).
First I bought some new fan-stuff and then we went to the power-party-stage where, because we were a little late, already some players and coached had been interviewed. So we watched that and later I got an autograph from Safety Oliver Flemming (I think).
Dann trat eine Sängerin namens Liza auf... war ganz gut... und Autogramm gab's auch wieder... Und natürlich war T-Bird mit dabei...
Then there was a singer named Liza performing... kind of good... and I got autographs again... Oh and of course T-Bird was there too...
Zum Schluß der Party trat dann noch eine Berliner Band namens Poolstar auf. Ich hab die letztes Jahr schon einmal gesehen, da fand ich sie ganz o.k.... Aber dieses mal haben die echt gerockt! Also hab ich mir noch deren CD geleistet... *zwinker* Oh meine Gott hab ich diesmal viel Geld im Stadion gelassen... *zwinker*
And at the end of the party there was a group from Berlin called Poolstar. I had seen them last year too... that time I thought they are nice but this time they really rocked! So I bought their CD... *wink* Oh my God... I left a lot of money there yesterday... *wink*
Ich mit T-Bird... Sorry, aber, ihr wisst ja, ich bleib gern unerkannt...
Me and T-Brid... Sorry, but, you know, I prefer to stay unknown...
Dann ging es IN das Stadion, und kurz danach kam dann auch "Nummer 3 unserer Truppe"... Wie ich bereits sagte, ich werde NICHT über das Spiel sprechen (selbst wenn ich hier später vielleicht noch ein paar Bilder hinzufügen werde) Obwohl... Rhein Fire hat verdient gewonnen! Aber laßt mich über den Rest reden. Die Fans waren leider eher ruhig...Nicht (nur) wegen dem Spiel sonder weil es einfach schwer ist bei 2°C und Nieselregen so richtig in Stimmung zu kommen... *brrrrr* so doll habe ich nicht mal bei meinem ersten Football-Spiel gefrohren...
Then we went IN the stadium, and short after that "number three of our group" reached us... As I said before I will NOT talk about the game (even if I maybe will add some pictures here later). Well... Rhine Fire deserved the victory. But let's talk about the rest. The Fans had been not that loud yesterday... Not (only) because of the game but because of the weather. It isn't easy to celebrate a party when you have about 2°C and it's wet... *brrrrr* I'm wasn't even freezing so much at my first American Football-Game...
Nach dem Einzug der Cheerleader, einer Europahymme (gesungen von einem Chearleader, klang für mich mehr nach Song Of Joy) und dem Einmarsch der Spieler ging es dann los...
After the entry of the cheerleader, the European-anthem (sang by a cheerleader, sounded more like Song Of Joy to me) and the marching in of the players the game began...
Und das einzig wirklich gute während des Spiels war der tanzende Bär von Skoda...
And the only funny thing in the following time was the dancing bear of Skoda (sponsor)...
In der Pause sangen Poolstar einen weiteren Song - DEN Fansong...
In the break there was another Song - THE fansong - performed by Poolstar...
Und dann ging die Schande weiter... Und erst als in den letzten 5 (Spiel-)Minuten unser "Stadion-DJ" endlich "Hey Baby" auspackte wurden auch die Fans richtig wach und feierten die Niederlage... *sing* "Heeeeey... He-ey Baby... UHH! AHH! I wanna kno-o-ow if you be my girl!"
And then the shame went on... and when finally, in the last 5 (game-)minutes, our "stadium-dj" played "Hey Baby", we - the fans- woke up and celebrated the defeat... *singing* "Heeeeey... He-ey Baby... UHH! AHH! I wanna kno-o-ow if you be my girl!"
Fazit: SCHEISS SPIEL! Aber ein SCHÖNER kalter TAG!!!!!
RESULT: SHIT GAME! But a GREAT cold DAY!!!!!

Season 2006: Week 4
Berlin Thunder vs. Amsterdam Admirals 31:38
Sa. 8. April 2006, Kick Off 18.00
Was für ein Tag!!! Aber nach dem letzten Heimspiel konnte es ja nur noch besser werden, oder?
What a day!!! But after the last home game it could only be better, right?
Die Power-Party war klasse. Zum einen hab ich wieder Autogramme bekommen. Eins von unserem Head-Coach Rick Lantz. Das fand ich besonders schön. Aber auch über die von Lance Moore (Wide Receiver) und Christian Mohr (Defensive End) hab ich mich natürlich auch gefreut....
The Power-Party was great. On the one hand I got autographs. One from our Head-Coach Rick Lantz. That made me really happy. But I was also glad about those from Lance Moore (Wide Receiver) and Christian Mohr (Defensive End)...
Zum anderen sind auf der kleinen Bühne Riff-Raff aufgetreten... eine wirklich gute AC/DC-Coverband... (nebenbei bemerkt "Thunderstruck" ist DER Berlin Thunder-Song)... Einfach genial!!!!!!!!
On the other hand there was Riff-Raff playing on the small stage... That's a real good AC-DC Cover-Band... (by the way "Thunderstruck" is THE Berlin Thunder-Song)... Simply great!!!!!!!!
Dann waren Poolstar auch wieder da... die scheinen sich zu so einer Art Thunder-Spieltag-Dauerbrenner zu entwickeln... Wie auch immer, hab diesmal ein Autogramm VON und ein Bild MIT dem Sänger bekommen... *JA*
Then the band Poolstar was there again... it seems they grow to a kind of local-Thunder-gameday-heros or something... anyway, I've got an autograph FROM and a picture WITH the singer... *YES*
Und natürlich waren auch die Cheerleader und T-Bird wieder mit dabei...
And of course the cheerleaders and T-Bird had been there too...
Im Stadion gab es dann eine echte Überraschung: 4 Fallschirmspringer die aus einem Helikopter sprangen und in der Mitte des Spielfelds landeten... Einer von ihnen hatte den Spiel-Ball dabei! Einfach faszinierend!
Inside the stadium there was real surprise: 4 skydivers which jumped out of a helicopter and landed in the middle of the field... one of them carrying the game-ball! Just amazing!
Das Spiel...? Nun es war wirklich nicht schlecht... zur Halbzeit stand es auch noch unentschieden... Beide Mannschaften waren wirklich ausgeglichen... Und die Fans, der "12. Mann", waren bester Laune... wir machten Krach mit allem was wir hatten...
The game...? Well it was really not bad... at the halftime it was a tie... The teams were kind of equal... And the fans, player "number 12", were in a really good mood, we were celebrating very loudly!
In der Pause spielte eine Marchingband... sehr nett, aber... ein bischen leise...
In the break there was a marchingband... very nice but... the sound was a little too low...
Und dann ging das Spiel leider etwas unglücklich weiter... so daß die Admirals zwei Touchdowns hintereinander machten... und dieser eine Touchdown zuviel, das waren genau die 7 Punkte die wir dann hinten lagen...
Then the game went not so happy for our Team... the Admirals were able to make two touchdowns in a row... and that one touchdown too much, that were those 7 points they had more in the end...
Und letztlich, nachdem wir das Lied selbst ein paar mal angestimmt hatten... spielte der Stadion-DJ endlich "Hey Baby", was so eine Art "Muß" für einen schönen Spieltag ist... *zwinker*
And finally, after we were singing the song on our own a lot of times... the stadium-dj played "hey baby" which is also a kind of a "must" for a good game day... *wink*
Also alles in allem... TROTZDEM EIN TOLLES SPIEL UND EIN SCHÖNER TAG!
So, taking all this together... STILL A GREAT GAME AND A GOOD DAY!

Berlin Thunder vs. Cologne Centurions 24:13
Sa. 17. April 2006, Kick Off 18.00
O.k., wo fange ich an? Ostermontag... ich war vom Tag davor noch ziemlich erledigt, doch nun sollte der Spaß erst richtig beginnen.
Alright, where shall I start? Easter Monday... On the day before my grandma was there for a long time, so I was still kind of tired. But now the fun was about to begin.
Wie immer war ich gegen 15.00h im Stadion... Und konnte es nicht lassen meine Fan-Ausstattung um ein Halstuch zu erweitern...*zwinker* Außerdem wurden Schoko-Ostereier verteilt... wie süß!
As always I was at the stadium at about 15.00h... And I had to buy another fan-thing... A little ... what the hell is "Halstuch" in English???? *lol* *checking-the-dictionary* A neckwear... *wink* oh and there where people there who were giving Easter-sweets to the fans around there... how sweet!
Auf der Bühne gab es dann wieder Interviews mit Dwayne Stukes (einer der Trainer), Brian Wrobel (Quaterback) und Little John Flowers (Running Back). Letzterer hat in der letzten Saison schon für Thunder gespielt und ist so eine Art Publikumsliebling, einer von vielen... Natürlich gab's auch wieder Autogramme...
On the stage there had been again some interviews with Dwayne Stukes (one of the coaches), Brian Wrobel (Quaterback) and Little John Flowers (Running Back). The latter is playing for our team the second year. He's like a favorite of the fans... And of course I got some autographs...
Und ein Foto von mir und Mr. Flowers... leider guckte er gerade nicht dahin wo er sollte... *zwinker*
And a picture with me and Mr. Flowers... sadly he looked away that moment... *wink*
Dann sind Poolstar WIEDER da gewesen... Und so langsam gefallen die mir immer besser... Echt gute Musik (*mal-ein-bischen-die-Werbetrommel-rühr*) Nein ernsthaft... wenn man die immer wider sieht, gewöhnt man sich dran... Mal abgesehen davon das ich die Jungs ja schon letzte Saison mit "eigentlich ganz gut" kommentiert hatte.
Then Poolstar had been playing there AGAIN. And... I really start liking there music a lot... No, honestly. If you see them again and again, you kind of get used to it... Not to mention that I already liked their music when they performed IN the stadium last season.
Beim letzten Song fing es dann so richtig an zu schütten... Bis dahin war das Wetter eigentlich optimal... Aber auf einmal kam es halt richtig dunkel, und dann regnete es echt Bindfäden... War aber trotzdem cool...
With the last song it started to rain... Till that time the weather had been nice but then it was raining cats and dogs... But still it was great...
Dann ging's ins Stadion wo Panjabi MC (sorry, falls ich das falsch geschrieben habe) aufgetreten ist... Ich kann nicht behaupten, daß mir das sonderlich gut gefallen hat, hab's halt nicht so mit diesem Hip-Hop-Mist (Ich hoffe ihr Hip-Hopper da draußen fühlt euch jetzt nicht auf en Schlips getreten.)
Then inside the stadium, before the game, there was Panjabi MC on stage (sorry if I spelled that wrong)... well I can't say that I liked it, because I'm really not so interested in that Hip-Hop stuff
Jedenfalls kam dann so langsam wieder sie Sonne heraus... Das konnte nur ein guter Tag werden! Und außerdem war auf dem Rasen endlich mal wieder das Thunder-Logo zusehen (was normalerweise nicht der Fall ist, weil wir uns das Stadion mit "Hertha" teilen, und die haben Vorrang)
Nevertheless, the sun returned slowly... could only be a good day! And additionally there was the Thunder-sign on the field (which usually is not the case, because we share the field with our "Berlin soccer heroes" Hertha BSC, and the are the top dogs in the stadium)
T-Bird unser Maskottchen sollte nun endlich fliegen lernen... er hatte es vor einigen Jahren schon mal im "Jahn-Stadion" versucht, damals von einer Leiter, wenn ich mich recht entsinne...Diesmal ist er vom Marathon-Tor gesprungen, direkt in ein Sprungkissen... War leider zu weit weg um das zu knipsen... Aber: HUT AB! Ich wüßte nicht, ob ich mich das getraut hätte.
Then T-Bird again tried to fly... he had tried it once a few years ago, long time before we changed location to the Olympic Stadium, Now he jumped from the marathon-gate right into such a big stuntman-pillow... (hope you know what I mean)... Sadly it had been to far away for taking good pictures, but still GREAT! I don't think that I would have done that...
Das Spiel war auch echt genial... Und da der Kölner Kicker zu dämlich war das Tor zu treffen, stand es zur Pause dann auch 10:0 für uns!!!!
The game itself was just great... and, because the kicker of the colognes was to "stupid" to hit the goal, at halftime it was a 10:0 for us!
In der Pause wurden dann ein paar Cheerleader an Seilen von Stadiondach herunter gelassen und haben dabei Gummibärchen in die Menge geschmissen... Ansonsten war das Pausen Programm eher dürftig...
In the break some cheerleaders where coming from the ceiling of the stadium (bound to a rope of course) spreading around some sweets... because it was Easter... But else the break entertainment wasn't that huge this time...
Aber wozu brauchen wir denn sowas überhaupt, wir können ja auch selber singen... Was wir auch getan haben... *lol*
But for what do we need it, we were singing and celebrating on our own... Thunder was in the leading position!!!! *lol*
Nach der Halbzeit ging es dann gleich spannend weiter, so daß es schnell 17: 7 stand. Dann hat unsere Abwehr mal wieder etwas Pech gehabt, so daß die Kölner einen weiteren Touchdown machen konnten... Aber wenigstens hat der Kicker den Extra-Punkt versemmelt... *lol* 17:13!
After the break it went on exciting... so it was fast a 17:7 for us... and then our defense seemed to have lost it's luck... but at least the Colognes didn't get the point after Touchdown *lol*... so it was a 17:13!
Mein Vater, der diesmal mal wieder mit war, war in diesem Moment natürlich sofort wieder der Meinung daß Thunder verlieren würde...Das ist so nervig... *kopf-schüttel* Aber ich wußte, daß sie gewinnen würden... Ich war mir da 100%ig sicher! Und was war? Kurze Zeit später stand es dann 24:13, wobei es dann ja auch geblieben ist! Gott, war das ein tolles Spiel! Das perfekte Ostergeschenk!
My dad, who was with me this afternoon, was at this moment absolutely sure that we would lose again... *shaking-my-head* But I was 100% sure that we would win... And what happened? Short after that it was the 24:17 which lasted to the end! Great game! The perfect gift for Easter!

Season 2006: Week 8
Berlin Thunder vs. Hamburg SeaDevils 14:38
So. 7. Mai 2006, Kick Off 16.00
Es gibt nur ein Wort um diesen Tag zu beschreiben ('tschuldigung das es ein englischen ist *zwinker*)
There is only one word to describe that day in the right way:
H I L A R I O U S ! ! ! ! !
Diesmal war es ja ein Sonntags-Spiel... Deshalb begann die Power-Party auch schon um 13.00h.
This time it was a Sunday... therefore the Power-Party started already at 13.00h.
Wie immer war ich pünktlich da, diesmal alleine... aber es dauerte noch etwas bis die Tore geöffnet wurden (vermutlich wegen dem Lauf der da vorher stattfand)... Und es war so sonnig... Ich weiß nicht genau, aber es müssen so 25°C im Schatten gewesen sein... Nur das da am Olympia Stadion nirgendwo Schatten ist!
Well I was there right on time, alone this time... but it took s little longer till the gates were opened (surly because of the run, which had been there before)... And it was so sunny... I don't know, but I guess we had around 25°C in the shadow... but in front of the Olympic Stadium, there is NO shadow...
Drinnen auf der kleinen Bühne sind dann Riff-Raff aufgetreten... Diesmal spielten sie ABBA-Songs im AC/DC Style... klang irgendwie merkwürdig...
Then inside, on the little stage, was playing Riff-Raff again... This time they played ABBA-songs in AC/DC style... sounded kind of weird...
Anschließend gab es dann wieder Cheerleader zu bewundern... Nicht nur unsere, sondern auch ein paar "Minis" und die Cheerleader von den Hamburgern waren auch mit dabei... (Muß man sich mal vorstellen... Hamburg ist Tabellenletzter, bringen aber (bisher, in dieser Saison) als einzige ihre Cheerleader zu uns mit.)
After that there had been the cheerleaders again. Not only ours, but also some "minis" and the cheerleaders of Hamburg had been there (That's remarkable... Hamburg are the last one in the ranking, but they are the only team (till now in this season) who brought there cheerleaders with them.)
Und natürlich war da auch wieder das Interview mit Spielern und Trainer und ich hab ein Autogramm und Foto von Wanja Müller (National Coach) bekommen...
Oh and of course there had been again interviews with players and coach... And I got again autograph from and picture with Wanja Müller (National Coach)...
Am Ende spielte dann noch eine andere Band... NEIN NICHT Poolstar! *lol* Ich weiß nicht, warum die nicht da waren... Aber.. diese andere Band mit dem Namen "gardens end" war auch ziemlich klasse und der eine Gitarrist sah richtig *yummi* aus...
At the end of the Power-Party was another band playing... NO NOT Poolstar! *lol* I don't know why they hadn't been there... Well but the other band - named "gardens end" by the way - was also very good and the one on the guitar was looking kind of *yummi* ...
O.k.... nun aber zurück zum Sport... Ich ging dann also ins Stadion (bei strahlendem Sonnenschein)... und ja! Der Rasen war "bemalt"!
O.k... but back to the sport... Then I went into the stadium (and the sun was still shining)... and yes! Again the field was "painted"!
Die Show vor dem Spiel war... o.k... Als Gruß an die Teams der Fußball WM gab's eine Fahnen-Show (um genau zu sein, müssen wir wegen der WM für's letzte Heimspiel ins Jahn-Stadion "umziehen")... sah zwar irgendwie schön aus, aber es war eher unspektakulär...
Pre-Game-Show was... o.k... There was a show with flags as a greeting to those teams of the soccer worldchampionship (actually that was our last game there this year, because of that... the last game will be in another stadium)... It looked kind of beautiful with all the flags... But... it wasn't anything spectacular...
Was aber richtig genial war: T-Bird ist geflogen!!!! An einem Seil ist er von einer Seite des Stadiondaches zur anderen geflogen... Das war echt süß gemacht... Und Mann... war da ne Stimmung im Stadion!!!! (Angeblich soll er beim nächsten Spiel dann ohne Seil fliegen...???)
But... what was really great: T-Bird was flying!!! On a rope, from one side of the roof to the other... That was so sweet made... And man... the fans were so loud, making so much noise, just for him!!! (Next game day he shall fly without a rope... as they said...???)
Und das Spiel selber... reden wir nicht drüber... einfach nichts sagen...
And the game itself... Don't talk about it... Just don't...
Naja, so ganz geht das dann doch nicht... denn es war schon lustig, irgendwie... als es dann irgendwann gegen Ende des Spiels 7:31 stand und die Hamburger wieder kurz vor einem Touchdown waren... Da hat nämlich der Block in dem ich saß (und auch so ziemlich der ganze Rest des Stadions) beschlossen sich mit den SeaDevils zu freuen... da war dann nichts mehr mit Lärm machen, obwohl unsere Abwehr auf dem Feld stand... Statt dessen haben wir dann den Touchdown gefeiert der dann auch prompt beim nächsten Spielzug folgte... Immerhin sind wir ja zum feiern im Stadion gewesen... und besser einen gegnerischen Touchdown als gar keinen... *lol*
Well not completely because... it was kind of funny, kind of... when it was 7:31 short before the end, and Hamburg was again short before our endzone...Well... we (means the whole stadium) decided that it would be more fun to be a fan of the SeaDevils... There was nothing more with making noise for our defence... instead we celebrated the touchdown by the Hamburgers, that followed right with the next move... I mean, we had been there to celebrate... and a "wrong" touchdown is better than no touchdown... *lol*
Wie auch immer, anscheinend hat das unser Team etwas wachgerüttelt... denn dann lief es auch einmal wieder... mehr oder weniger... Und als es dann endlich auch wieder ein First Down gab, haben wir natürlich unsere Jungs wieder angefeuert... Vielleicht hätte Thunder sogar noch wieder aufholen können, nur leider war das Spiel dann zu ende... Aber einen Touchdown den schafften sie dann doch noch, so daß es zum Ende dann 14:38 stand...
Whatever, it seemed that our team woke up by the lack of support... because then it worked again, more or less... And when there was finally a First Down for us, we - of course - celebrated our team again... Maybe Thunder would have been able to catch up again, but sadly the game-clock was running out soon... Nevertheless they gave us one more Touchdown, so that it finally was a 14:38...
Aber... ich hatte wirklich Spaß, selbst wenn das Spiel... reden wir nicht drüber...
Ich hatte vor mir, neben, mir und hinter mir wirklich nette Leute sitzen... und das eher langweilige Spiel führte für uns dann zu einem kleinen Konfetti-Krieg... War echt lustig... Ich bin es ja nun wirklich gewohnt mit Konfetti beschmissen zu werden... aber DAS... WoW... Es war als hätte es gescheit... ich war über und über mit weißen Papierschnipseln bedeckt, genau wie die anderen... wirklich spaßig!!!!!
Well I had some nice people sitting in front of me, and on my side and on my back... and that boring game lead for us into a battle with confetti... Was really really funny... I mean, I was really used to be hit by confetti... but THIS... wow... It was like it had snowed... I was over and over covered with little pieces of white paper, same as the others... really funny!!!!!

Letztes Spiel der Saison... aus WM-Gründen NICHT im Olympiastadion, sondern im Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark! YEAH!
Last game of the season... because of the Soccer-championship NOT in the Olympic-stadium but in the good old "Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark"! YEAH!
Für all die die's nicht wissen... Da fing für Thunder alles an. Das war "unser" Zuhause von 1999 bis 2002!!!!! Also das alleine war schon toll... wie nach hause kommen!!!!!
For all of you who don't know that... That's where everything started, that was Thunder's home from 1999 to 2002!!!!! So that alone was great... just like coming home!!!!!
O.k... Power-Party... war nett... Nichts besonders aber schön. Und wieder hab ich ein Autogramm von Ryan Bowers (Safety) bekommen.
Alright... Power-Party... was nice! Not special but nice. And again I got an autograph from Ryan Bowers (Safety).
Und natürlich waren auch die Cheerleader wieder da...
And of course the cheerleader had been there too... as always...
... und T-Bird, Eddi der Teddy und zwei weitere Maskottchen von zwei anderen Berliner Footballvereinen... ein ganz schön bunter Haufen...

Geregnet hat's auch ein bischen...
And it was raining a little...
Und ja... Poolstar waren auch wieder da... Ich bin wirklich froh, das mir die Musik von denen ganz gut gefällt, anders wäre es sicher eher nervig gewesen die Jungs da so oft auftreten zu sehen... *lol*
And yes... Poolstar had been there too... again... I'm really happy that I like their music, otherwise I guess it would have been kind of annoying to see them so often... *lol*
Und dann ging's INS Stadion... Gut das ich nie was wegschmeiße, so wußte ich noch ganz genau welches unsere alten Plätze waren, und da saßen wir dann auch wieder... Ganz schön ungewohnt...
Then we went IN the stadium... Thanks God I never throw away anything so that we really had the same places like we had when we were there the last time... Strange feeling...
T-Bird ist dann doch nicht "geflogen", aber... Als so ein keines Revival waren diesmal alles Cheerleader vom Anfang mit dabei... waren echt ne ganze Menge...
Our mascot wasn't trying to fly as they said the last time, but...As an revival there had been all cheerleaders from the beginning there... really a lot...
Und dann trat noch eine Sängerin namens V:nes auf... kennt auch keiner, oder???
And then there was a singer performing named V:nes... also a newcomer...
Und nebenbei... dann fing es richtig an zu regnen...
By the way... THEN it was really raining...
Deshalb begann die Spiel auch richtig lustig... für uns... Der Ball fiel nämlich beim Kick Off 3 mal um bevor es dann gelang (mit Hilfe eine Spielers der den Ball festhielt).
Therefore the game started kind of funny... for us... because the ball fall down 3 times before the managed to make a kick off (with another player holding the ball this time).
Auch sonst war's zu Anfang eher eine rutschige Angelegenheit... Wobei Thunder damit besser klar kam und es dann zeitweise doch tatsächlich 13:0 stand!
The game itself was also more wet and slippery... But Thunder dealt good with that so that it was really a 13:0 for a while!
Aber als dann die Sonne wieder raus kam lief das auch bei der Galaxy besser und so stand es dann auch schon kurz nach der Halbzeit 13:14! Verdammt!
But then the sun came back and the Galaxy started to make their moves... And short after the break we had a 13:14! Damned!
Aber erst mal zur "Halftime-Show": Da gab es ein Wettrennen der Maskottchen! Ja-ja... ich weiß... nicht sehr spektakulär... aber witzig war's schon.
But first: the halftime show: There was a run of the mascots ... Yeah-Yeah... I know... not very spectacular... but still funny to watch...
Zurück zum Spiel: Wie gesagt kurz nach der Halbzeit kam das 13:14... und dann der große Wolkenbruch... Und auf dem Spielfeld ging nichts mehr!!! (mal abgesehen davon das wir zwei Fieldgoals versemmelt haben (wären 6 Punkte gewesen)! Scheiße! Wir hätten echt gewinnen können, verdammt!)
Back to the game: As I said short after the break there was the 13:14... And then: Again rain! It was raining cats and dogs, and on the field there was nothing happening anymore (except that we missed 2 Fieldgoals (that had been 6 points)! Shit, we could have won that game, damned!)
Aber... ein großes Danke an die Cheerleader... die waren innerhalb von einer Sekunde nass bis auf die Haut... und haben trotzdem weiter Party gemacht da unten im Regen! Einfach Großartig!
But... a big THANKS to the cheerleaders. The poor girls were wet to the skin within a second... and they were still dancing and partying in the rain! Great!
Am Ende gab es dann noch ein großes Feuerwerk, und die Spieler bedankten sich bei den Fans!
At the end there was a huge firework and the players said "thanks" to the fans!

Season 2006: Last Comment
Thunder hat mal wieder bewiesen, daß es eine Mannschaft der Extreme ist... entweder sie ziehen ins Finale, oder sie werden Tabellenletzter!!! *lol*
Berlin Thunder proved that they are a team of extremes... either they go to the final, or they are the last on the ranking!!! *lol*
Es gab allerhand schöne Ereignisse, auch wenn die meisten Spiele nicht ganz so toll waren, und das Wetter leider auch sehr feucht. Und ins Jahn-Stadion zurückzukehren (wenn auch nur für ein Spiel) war schon schön...
There had been lots of good events, even if most of the games hadn't been that good, and the weather was really wet. And going back to the "Jahn-Stadion" was a good thing too, even if it was just for one game...
Im großen und ganzen war's eine lustige, oft verregnete Saison!!!
All together it was a funny, often rainy season!!!

Season 2007: Preview
6 Tage vor dem ersten Heimspiel! Die Tatsache, daß Thunder das erste Auswärtsspiel gewonnen hatte, hob doch mächtig die Stimmung!!!
6 days before the first home game! And the fact that Thunder won the first away game was really enlighten the mood.
Aber dennoch... Was ist das nun schon wieder mit dem "Fan Fest"? Jetzt soll es schon um 11.00 losgehen??? Wie wollen die denn die Fans die ganze Zeit beschäftigen??? Die hatten damit ja schon bei 2 Stunden Power-Party ein paar Probleme was die Qualität des Programms anging... und nun soll das Ganze 4 bzw. 6 Stunden lang gehen??? *stirn-runzel*
But still... What shall that be with this "Fan Fest"? Now this all shall start at 11.00??? How do they plan to keep the fans occupied all the time? I mean, the last years they had even problems to do that during the 2 hours of Power Party... and now this shall be 4 and 6 hours respectively???? *frowning*
Und was die Berichterstattung im TV angeht... ach vergiß es doch! Die 5 Minuten (wenn's überhaupt soviel war), die DSF da gebracht hat... das hätten sie sich auch schenken können!
And what about the reports on TV? Oh forget it! Those 5 minutes they did show of the game on DSF (German sport channel)... Well I really didn't need that...
Aber was soll's, ich freu mich trotzdem auf Sonntag!
But who cares... I'm still looking forward to this Sunday!

Season 2007: Week 2
Berlin Thunder vs. Hamburg Seadevils 7:16
So. 22.April 2007, Kick Off 16.00
Obwohl das Fanfest ja schon um 11.00 h anfing (und auch ohne Eintrittskarte frei zugänglich war) bin ich dennoch erst so losgefahren, daß ich um 12.50 h am Olympiastadion ankam. In der Bahn hatte ich mich mit meinem Kollegen getroffen. (ja, diesmal haben mich meine zwei lieben Kollegen begleitet).
Even if the Fanfest stared at 11.00h (and you could go there even without a ticket) I went there so that I was at the stadium at 12.50h. In the train I met one of my colleagues (Yes this time I was there with my two colleagues).
Wir sind dann zur "Party" gelaufen wo gerade eine Motorcross Show in vollem Gange war. Ich kannte das ja noch aus den letzten Jahren, wo die Jungs immer mal im Stadion aufgetreten sind. Das ganze jetzt mal von so nah zu erleben war schon toll, und beeindruckend.
We then went to the "Party", where had been a Motorcross Show right that moment. I knew this from the last season where they had been in the stadium. But to see this now from so close, that was impressing.
Dann sind wir ein wenig übers Fanfest geschlendert und letztlich dann wieder an der "Hauptbühne" gelandet. Dort hatte, nach all den Jahren, mal wieder der Stadionsprecher persönlich das sagen. COOL! Denn der Kerl sorgte immer für mächtig Stimmung.
We walked a little all over the place, before we returned to the main stage. There, after all those years, the good old "Stadium-moderator" (I don't know if it's called like that in English) had taken over the microphone again. COOL! Because this guy always made a good show.
Natürlich lief auf T-Bird wieder durch die Menge, wobei ich glaube, daß sie dem Guten mal eine neuen Kopf verpaßt haben.
And of course T-Bird was there too, but I guess they made him a new head!
Die Cheerleader waren auch wieder da, logisch! Und auch die von Hamburg! (Und wieder einmal: Hochachtung vor der Leistung der Hamburger Cheerleader während des Spiels! So was von laut! Toll!)
The Cheerleader were also there, of course! And also those from Hamburg! (And again. A huge compliment to them for all their effort in cheering for their team during the game! So loud! Well done!)

Dann waren natürlich auch unser Head-Coach John Allen und zwei seiner Spieler (Charles Davis, Tight End, und Chris Harrel, Corner Back) auf der Bühne zum Interview und Autogramme geben... SO zerquetscht wurde ich beim Football schon lange nicht mehr, aber ich hab von allen Autogramme bekommen... Verrückt!
Then, of course there had been the Head Coach John Allen and two of the players (Charles Davis, Tight End, and Chris Harrel, Corner Back) for interview and autographs... And yes I got some, too. But really, I can't remember when there was so much pressure from left an right and back while trying to get my paper signed... Crazy!
Anschließend, folgte nochmal eine Mototrcross-Einlage...
After that there was a little bit of that motorcross show again...
Dann kam auch meine Kollegin so daß unser Trio nun komplett war. (An dieser Stelle: Danke für die Bilder "Knolli"!) Und nach einer Wurst gegen den Hunger wollten wir dann auch ins Stadion. Nur da war plötzlich die Karte meiner Kollegin weg!!!
Then my other colleague came. (At this point: thanks for the pictures "Knolli") And after a grilled sausage we wanted to go into the stadium. But... suddenly the ticket from my colleague was missing!!!
Und da muß ich jetzt mal sagen, daß die Leute von Berlin Thunder echt korrekt sind. Wir haben zwar ein bischen hin und her rennen müssen um die Karte als gestohlen zu melden, aber letztlich hat man sie dann doch ohne große Probleme ins Stadion und auf ihren Sitzplatz gelassen! Ja!
And, now I have to say that the guys from Berlin Thunder are really fair. We straight went to make a record about the loss and asked if there was any chance to get still in. Well, we had to run around a little, but finally they let us all in to our seats! Yes!
Und man höre und staune... die Gegentribüne war mal wieder besetzt! Am Ende sollen es über 30.000 Zuschauer gewesen sein. So viel wie noch nie zu vor!
And - what a surprise - the opposite side of the stadium was full of people too! Usually they sell only tickets for half of the stadium, but not this time! At the end there had been over 30.000 fans, so much like never ever before!
Die Pre-Show war eher durchwachsen. Der Anfang war cool, als 4 Basejumper vom Stadiondach sprangen... Cool!
The Pre-Show was neither good nor bad. The beginning was cool, when 4 basejumpers jumped down from the roof of the stadium... Cool!
Die Cheerleader wurden Modenschau-mäßig einzeln vorgestellt und dann gab es die deutsche und die amerikanische Nationalhymne von einer Opernsängerin vorgetragen (was toll war)... Mehr nicht...
The Cheerleaders were introduced one by one on a catwalk and then there was an opera-singer performing the national anthems of Germany and the USA (which was great)... not more...
Keine Live-Band! Sehr schade!
No Live-Band! Really sad!
Dann begann das Spiel und das fing eigentlich ganz gut an. Ich hatte wirklich nach diesem Beginn mit einem schnellen Touchdown für uns gerechnet, aber dann kam alles anders...
Then the game began and really it started very well... I really was expecting a quick touchdown after that start, but then things went on very differently...
Selbst der Fieldgoal-Versuch ging daneben... Es lief einfach nicht Rund... Statt dessen gab es auf anderer Seite ein Fieldgoal und einen Touchdown so daß es kurz vor der Halbzeit 0:10 stand! Wir hatten dann zwar noch mal eine wirklich gute Chance zum Touchdown, aber leider segelte der Ball beim Paß in die Hände des Gegners *jammer*!
Even the field goal wasn't good... things weren't working... And instead there was a field goal and a touchdown from the SeaDevils so that it was 0:10 short before the halftime. Thunder then really had the chance to make a touchdown on their own, but sadly the pass ended up in the hands of a SeaDevil-player... *whining*
Über das Pausenprogramm werde ich mich hier jetzt nicht auslassen... Außer vielleicht "welches Pausenprogramm?"
About the halftime show I better don't talk... Except maybe: "Which halftime show?"
Was lustig war - war das jetzt in der ersten oder zweiten Halbzeit? - war die Laola in Zeitlupe... Wow, das sah echt geil aus!
What had been funny was the Mexican wave in slow-motion... "Wow that was looking awesome!
Wie auch immer... die zweite Spielhälfte war dann nicht wirklich besser. Um genau zu sein, fing's so an, wie die erste Hälfte aufhörte - mit einem Ballverlust. Und es dauerte gar nicht lange bis es dann 0:13 stand.
Anyway the second half wasn't any better then the first. In fact it started the same way like the first one ended - Thunder lost the ball. And it didn't take long and the score was 0:13.
Dann hat Thunder es tatsächlich noch geschafft zum Beginn des 4. Viertels einen Touchdown zu machen. Zwar ließ das wieder merklich Hoffnung aufkeimen, am Ende sollten es jedoch die einzigen Punkte für "unsere Jungs" bleiben... Und so stand es letztlich 7:16!
Thunder then really managed to make a touchdown on their own at the beginning of the 4th quarter! But even if this let the hopes of the fans rise again, those should stay the only points for our team. So at the end it was 7:16!
Dennoch, es war wie immer ein großer Spaß! Und feiern tun wir eh so oder so! *sing*
But still, it was a lot of fun! And we're celebrating anyway, this way or the other! *singing

Season 2007: Week 3
Berlin Thunder vs. Amsterdam Admirals 10:14
Sa. 28.April 2007, Kick Off 18.00
Diesmal bin ich etwas früher zum Fan Fest gegangen, da ich mir die anderen Stände/Dinge, die ich das letzte mal nicht wirklich unter die Lupe nehmen konnte, etwas genauer ansehen wollte... Ich war also schon um 13.00 da, obwohl das Spiel erst um 18.00 losging.
This time I went there a little earlier, because I wanted to have a closer look on all the other stuff on the Fan Fest I wasn't able to see the last time... So I was there at 13:00 even if the game should start at 18.00!
Grober Fehler! Denn dieses mal war das Fan Fest wesentlich kleiner, und ich hab mich eher etwas gelangweilt anstatt amüsiert... Zumal es auch noch verdammt heiß war, und dort nirgendwo Schatten gewesen ist. Wenigstens gab es auf der Bühne etwas Musik von Nachwuchsbands...
Big mistake! Because this time there had been less than the last time there to see... In fact I was bored, and it was so damn hot and there was NO shadow at all! But at least there had been some unknown bands playing on stage.
Aber diese Skateboard-etc-Show war ganz ok, auch wenn sie in keinster Weise an die Motorcross Geschichte vom letzten Mal heranreichte.
But the skateboard-etc-show had been really good even if this was nothing compared to the motorcross-thingy from last time.
Und Poolstar waren mal wieder da... *lol* (Und ich habe festgestellt, daß deren Musik wirklich gar nicht so schlecht ist - wenn man sie nicht bei JEDEM Spiel hört...*zwinker*)
And Poolstar had been there again... *lol* (And I noticed that their music is really not that bad - when you don't hear them at EVERY home game... *wink*)
Dann kam Stadionsprecher Frank auf die Bühne und die eigentliche Power Party begann. T-Bird war da, und unsere Cheerleader ebenfalls!
Then the DJ of the stadium (called Frank) came on stage and the real Power Party started. And T-Bird was there and the cheerleaders...
Und: Axel Kruse (ehemaliger Fußballspeiler, Ex-Thunder-Kicker und jetzt "rasender Reporter") war auch da!
And: Axel Kruse (former Soccerplayer, former Thunder Kicker and now "sport-journalist") was also there!
Auch waren wieder drei Spieler von Thunder da (Samario Housten, Steven Vieira, und einer dessen Namen ich nicht mehr herausfinden kann, aber er hatte die Nummer 16), zwecks Interview und Autogramme schreiben. Und: Ja, ich bin wieder erfolgreich gewesen.
And there also were again three players from the team (Samario Housten, Steven Vieira,, and someone whose Name I can't find out anymore but he had the number 16), for interviews and autographs! And: Yeah, I was successful again...
Dann sind wir ins Stadion zu unseren Plätzen. Diesmal war's Stadion wieder nur "einseitig besetzt". Aber das letzte mal sollen ja wohl auch massig Freikarten verteilt worden sein... Wie sonst sollte es auch möglich sein, daß Thunder seine Zuschaueranzahl von Heute auf Morgen verdoppelt!
After that we went into the stadium to take our seats. This time again only half of the stadium was filled with fans. But last time, there had been a mass of free tickets so this wasn't a surprise (How else should Thunder be able to get twice as much people into the stadium than usual...)
Bei der "Pre-Show" hat T-Bird sich mal wieder im Fliegen versucht. Diesmal hat er sich an einem Seil unter's Stadiondach hochziehen lassen, um von dort den Hammer zu holen!
And the "pre-game-show" T-Bird tried to fly again. He let him self be pulled up under the roof of the stadium on a rope to get the "Thunder-hammer"!
Dann haben die Cheerleader wieder ein bischen getanzt, und darauf folgte dann auch ziemlich bald der Einmarsch der Spieler. Nationalhymnen gab es diesmal auch wieder. Die von den USA und die von Europa! (Ich wußte gar nicht, daß Europa eine hat... besonders gut fand ich die aber nicht, auch wenn sie Song of Joy als Melodie hat.)
Then the Cheerleader danced again and there was the national anthem of the USA and Europe this time (I didn't even know that Europe has an anthem... actually I didn't really like it.)
Dann begann das Spiel... und zwar eigentlich sehr glücklich für uns (ein geblockter Punt an der 10 Yard Linie!) Nur leider konnte Thunder nicht viel daraus machen, weill schon gleich darauf wieder eine Interception folgte, sprich wir den Ball wieder verloren. So ging es dann eine Weile hin und her ohne das eine Mannschaft wirklich dazu kam Punkte zu machen. Thunder's Abwehr stand (nahezu) felsenfest!
Then the game started... and in a really lucky way for us (a blocked punt at the 10 years line!) But sadly we couldn't turn this into points be cause soon an interception followed. So this way, it went on for a while with no team making any points. Thunders defence was (almost) like a wall!
Zur Halbzeit stand es dann 0:7... Ähhh Moment... wieso hatten denn Amsterdam so viele Punkte? Ach ja, da war ja dieser Mega-Pass aus dem Nichts heraus direkt in unsere Endzone, die der "Admiral" natürlich fangen mußte (Scheiße für uns, aber war wirklich ein guter Paß)!
At the halftime it was 0:7... emmm... wait... why did Amsterdam have so much points? Oh yes, there was this one pass which came from nowhere and went right into our end zone where that one Admiral had to catch it. (Bad for us, but still it was a really good pass)!
Das Halbzeitprogramm war genauso NICHT vorhanden wie beim letzten mal...

In der zweiten Hälfte fiel dann relativ zeitig das erste Fieldgoal für Thunder so daß es 3:7 stand. Und dann - ein paar Spielzüge später - sollte es soweit sein... Ein langer Paß! Unser Receiver fängt ihn... und läuft und läuft... und JAAAAAAAAAAA TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the second half Thunder made quickly a field goal so that the score was 3:7. And then - a few moves later - it should be happening... A long pass! And our receiver caught it... and ran and ran... and YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
10:7! Die erste Führung vor heimischer Kulisse in dieser Saison... Und im Olympiastadion war die Hölle los! Zwischenzeitlich haben die Fans dann angefangen den Klassiker unter den Football-Stimmungs-Songs "Hey Baby" zu singen, ganz von allein... Und immer mehr haben mit eingestimmt...
10:7! The first lead ever at home in this season... and in the Olympic Stadium everyone was partying to no end! In between we even started singing "Hey Baby" which is a kind of classic-party-song for the fans... And more and more started singing this song...
Und nun als wir dann endlich in Führung lagen wurde unser betteln erhört und der Stadion-DJ spielte "Hey Baby" (in der Originalversion) für uns/mit uns/wie auch immer... Das Lied ist im Stadion einfach nicht tot zu kriegen...
And then, when Thunder had the lead the stadium-dj played that song for us/with us/whatever... The song simply can't be killed...
Doch das Blatt sollte sich wieder wenden, denn die Amsterdamer kamen noch mal sehr dich an unsere Endzone... zu dicht! Bis an die 1 Yard-Linie kamen sie heran!
But things should turn around again... The Admirals came again very close to our end zone... too close! They went to the 1 yard line!
Hilfe ich hatte da echt fast ne Herzattacke... Dann sah es so aus, als ob die Lage sich nach einer Strafe für die Amsterdamer etwas entspannen würde, aber dann folgte 53 Sekunden vor Schluß doch noch der Touchdown! 10:14! Mist!
I was close to a heart attack... Then it was as if the situation would relax, because of a penalty... But then, 53 seconds before the end, it happened and the Admirals made another touchdown! 10:14! Shit!
Thunder hat zwar dann noch alles versucht um in den letzten knapp 50 Sekunden noch mal zu Punkten (und hatte zeitweise wirklich noch alle Chancen!), aber ein Ballverlust 20 Sekunden vor Schluß, war dann das endgültige Aus!
Schade, denn das Spiel war wirklich gut und Thunder war um Längen besser als beim letzten mal... Es hat halt nur das Glück beim Abschluß gefehlt!
Really sad, because the game was really good and Thunder had been much better then the week before... At the end they just missed some luck in making the last step to the points!
Dennoch, wir haben gefeiert, und so hoch wie heute war mein Adrenalin-Spiegel wohl schon lange nicht mehr! Sehr schönes und spannendes Spiel! Freue mich wirklich schon auf's nächste mal!
Nevertheless we celebrated a big party, and I guess my adrenaline didn't go so high in a very long time! It was a really good and exciting game! Can't wait for the next one!

Berlin Thunder vs. Cologne Centurions 10:24
So. 13. Mai 2007, Kick Off 16.00
Wie immer war ich etwa drei Stunden vor Spielbeginn am Stadion um die Power-Party zu genießen...
Die Stimmung an der Bühne war ausgelassen, was wohl auch an dem Auswärtssieg letzte Woche lag.
Like always I went there three hours before the Kick Off, to enjoy the Power-Party...
Everyone there was in a relaxed and happy mood, which surely was also because Thunder had won the game in Cologne the week before.
Axel Kruse war auch wieder da, um uns über den neusten "Tratsch" zu informieren. Und diesmal hab ich's tatsächlich geschafft ein Autogramm von ihm zu bekommen. Ich bin zum "Bühnenausgang" gegangen und als er dann da die paar Stufen herunter kam hab ich gerufen: "Hey Axel! Bekomme ich ein Autogramm?" Hat funktioniert. *zwinker*
Axel Kruse was also there on stage to talk about the newest gossip. And this time I managed to get an autograph from him. I went to the "exit" of the stage and when he went down those few steps I screamed: "Hey Axel! Can I have an autograph?" Did work! *wink*
Die Cheerleader waren natürlich auch wieder da. Logisch... ohne diese leicht bekleideten Damen würde ja auch etwas fehlen.
The Cheerleaders had been also there again... of course... without them, there would be something missing.
Dann waren auch wieder 3 Spieler auf der Bühne und haben Interviews und Autogramme gegeben (Eugene Bruce, Quarterback; Dave Tollefson, Devensive End und Cal Murry, Running Back) Jepp... natürlich hab ich auch wieder welche bekommen...
Then there had been again three players of the team on stage for interviews and autographs (Eugene Bruce, Quarterback; Dave Tollefson, Defensive End and Cal Murry, Running Back). And yes, I was successful too... *smiling-happily*
Danach waren nochmals die Cheerleader da...
Then again the Cheerleaders were performing again...
Dann war da noch so eine Mischung aus Motocross-, Bike-, was auch immer- Show, die mich aber nicht wirklich vom Hocker gehauen hat...
And at last there was again some Motorcross-, Bike-, whatever-Show, which was... not really worth to mention.
Und an der Stelle möchte ich mal sagen: ich vermisse den Ex-Manager von Thunder Michael Lang! Denn seit der nicht mehr da ist scheint das alles etwas den Bach runter zu gehen. Wo sind die zumindest halbwegs bekannten Musik-Acts? Wo sind die Pre-Game-Show und die Halftime-Show? *kopf-schüttel* Und: Michael Lang war immer präsent, er war immer da... er hat Kontakt zu den Fans gehalten... er war einer von uns, was man von dem "neuen" nicht behaupten kann...
Well, at this point I want to say something: I miss Thunder's ex-manager Michael Lang! Because since he's gone things are getting worse and worse. Where are the -at least a little bit - famous music acts? Where are the Pre-Game-Show and the Halftime-Show? *shaking-my-head* And Michael Lang was always there, searching the contact to the fans... he was "one of us"... Something the new guy really isn't...
Wie auch immer, dann ging es ins Stadion. Und siehe da... Fußballsaison ist vorbei und der Rasen erstrahlt in unserer Kriegsbemalung!
Whatever... Then I went into the stadium... And what a surprise... Soccer season is over (we share the stadium with the Berlin soccer team Hetha BSC) and the field is painted like it should be!
Als Pre-Game-Show gab es die Cheerleader mit einer Muttertags-Performance, sowie die amerikanische und die deutsche Nationalhymne...
The Pre-Game-Show was a special performance by the cheerleaders, because it was mother's day. And then there was again a performance of the American and the German national anthem.
Dann begann das Spiel...

Wenigstens hat T-Bird unser Maskottchen in der Halbzeitpause ein keines bischen unsere Ehre gerettet, als er das Hinderniswettrennen gegen das Maskottchen der Kölner gewonnen hat!
At least T-Bird our mascot did win "some" game. In the halftime, he had a run (with obstacles) against the mascot of the Cologne Centurions... And T-Bird won!
Die zweite Hälfte des Spiels bestand für uns Fans hauptsächlich aus "Party" und Kopfschütteln. Während sich auf dem Spielfeld nichts tat, feierten wir auf unseren Sitzen um so mehr, schließlich waren wir gekommen um Spaß zu haben...
The second half of the game meant for the fans mostly "party" and shaking heads. While there was nothing worth watching going on on the field, we celebrated on our places even more... at least we went there to have fun...
Und dann haben unsere Jungs ja tatsächlich doch noch einen Touchdown gemacht... nur einer war halt nicht genug...
And then our players of Thunder really did manage to make a Touchdown... only just one wasn't enough...
Und so endete das Spiel wie es endete... mit einer Niederlage. Langsam frage ich mich wirklich ob das Olympiastadion verflucht ist...*lol*
Aber was soll's, der Spaß ist alles was zählt. Es gab Zeiten, ganz zu Anfang, da wurde jedes First Down bejubelt, jeder Punkt gefeiert auch wenn das Spiel verloren ging... Und daran hat sich bis heute nichts geändert.
But who cares, all that matters is to have fun. I remember , back then were things had begun, the fans did celebrate every first down, because even those had been rare... Back then it didn't matter if the lost or won... and there has nothing changed about that...

Berlin Thunder vs. Frankfurt Galaxy 22:25
Sa. 2. Juni 2007, Kick Off 18.00
Wie immer waren wir 3 Stunden vor Spielbeginn am Stadion, um uns bei der Power-Party so richtig in Stimmung zu bringen.
As always we went to the stadium 3 hours before the kick off, to have some fun at the Power-Party and get into the right mood.
Als wir am Stadion ankamen war gerade wieder die Motorcross-Show im Gange, die ich schon beim ersten Heimspiel bewundern konnte. Wirklich toll!
When we get there, there was again this motorcross-show, which I already enjoyed at the Party before the first game... Just great!
Dann kam (mit 30 Minuten Verspätung zum sonst üblichen Zeitplan) Stadion-DJ Frank auf die Bühne und brachte T-Bird gleich mit.
Then (with about 30 minutes delay) came stadium-dj Frank on stage and with him came T-Bird!
Und natürlich waren auch die Cheerleader mit dabei. Alles in allem schien es aber doch etwas gehetzt abzulaufen... Und vor allem war dieser doofe Kameramann einem ständig im Weg.
And of course the cheerleaders had been there too... But taking everything into account, it felt all a little rushed... And then this stupid Cameraman which was always in the way...
Dann kamen wieder drei Spieler (Tom Malone, Punter; Josh Lay Cornerback; Rich Musinski, Wide Reciever, denke ich) auf die Bühne, die ein ziemlich kurzes Interview gaben und auch nur relative kurz Autogramme schrieben. Und dank des doofen Kameramanns und dank den zwei Typen mit den Fahnen, habe ich (vermutlich) weder besonders gute Bilder gemacht, noch von ALLEN 3 Spielern Autogramme bekommen... Aber immerhin von ZWEIEN...
Then again three players entered the stage (Tom Malone, Punter; Josh Lay Cornerback; Rich Musinski, Wide Reciever, I think). They did a short interview and then signed autographs for a really, really short time. And thanks to that stupid Cameraman and those guys next to me with those flags, neither did I (as I guess) took good pictures, not did I get autographs from ALL of the three... But at least I got TWO...
Dann kam einer auf die Bühne, der schon zu den Anfangszeiten der NFLE dabei war... als Mitorganisator und Stadionsprecher bei Galaxy (wenn ich das richtig verstanden habe). Er und unser Frank sind langjährige Freunde, weshalb sie auch später das Spiel gemeinsam kommentierten. War eigentlich ganz witzig.
Then there was this guy on stage, who had been with the NFLE from the very beginning (as stadium-dj for Galaxy). He and our Frank are long-time-friends, which was the reason why the commented to game later together, Actually this was quite funny.
Tja, dann kamen noch mal die Cheerleader. Und während es noch etwas Motorcross zu sehen gab ging es dann auch schon ins Stadion. Wie gesagt, ging alles etwas schnell...
Well, then there had been the cheerleader again, and while there was again some motorcross we went into the stadium.
Im Stadion selber gab es dann einen Auftritt der Cheerleader sowie eine Tanzeinlage von den Weltmeistern Im Breakdance (obwohl ich T-Bird zu der Zeit viel interessanter fand). Fallschirmspringer waren auch da, die in der Stadionmitte landeten. Und schließlich waren da auch wieder die Nationalhymen nach dem Einmarsch der Spieler.
As Pre-Game-Show there had been again the cheerleaders, same as a performance of some Breakdance world champions (but really, I found T-Bird's dancing much more interesting). Skydivers were also there, who landed right in the middle of the field. And finally there were the national anthems again, after the entrance of the teams.
Dann begann das Spiel... Und es lief echt toll!
Then the game began... and it went really well!
Nach dem wir den Frankfurtern den Ball ziemlich schnell mopsten, kam es zu einem Fieldgoal-Versuch von Thunder (der auch gültig gewesen wäre). Dank eines Fouls erhielten "unsere Jungs" jedoch statt dessen ein neues First Down, was Thunder dann mit einem Touchdown dankte. Auf der anderen Seite machte Galaxy ein Fieldgoal. Damit stand es nach dem ersten Viertel 7:3!
First Thunder quickly stole the ball from Frankfurt and tried a Fieldgoal. Actually this would had been good, but thanks to a foul Thunder got a new first down which they finally turned into a Touchdown. On the other site, Galaxy made a Fieldgoal so that at the end of the first Quarter it was 7:3 for our team!
Im Zweiten Viertel passierte Punkte-mäßig nicht viel, aber auf dem Spielfeld ging es heiß her. Zunächst war da wieder ein Fieldgoal-Versuch von Thunder, der zwar gültig gewesen wäre, aber durch ein (eigenes) Foul zunichte gemacht wurde (und aus größerer Entfernung traf unser Kicker leider nicht... Dem fehlt etwas die Kraft im Bein, so wie das aussah!) Aber auch sonst ging es gut hin und her auf dem Feld. Beide Mannschaften schienen gleichwertig.
In the second Quarter, well there wasn't much happening, at least when it came to scores. First there was another Fieldgoal-try from Thunder which would have been good if this time, we wouldn't have made the foul. And the second try, from 10 yards more... well it just wasn't enough power in this kick, I guess. From the playing skills both teams had been equal at that time.
Dann war Halbzeit. In der Halbzeitpause gab es Musik! Allerdings nichts was mich vom Hocker gehauen hätte. Es spielte nämlich eine Nachwuchsband die irgend einen Wettbewerb im Vorfeld gewonnen hatte... Heavy Metal... klang ein bischen wie Metallica... Paßt nicht wirklich zu einem Footballspiel!
Then it was time for there Halftime show... And see there.. we had some live music. But nothing really good actually. The band who played won a kind of contest sometimes before the game... Heavy Metal... Somehow a little like Metallica... Just doesn't fit to an American Football game.
Dann ging das Spiel weiter. Etwa zur Hälfte des 3. Viertels machten die Jungs von Thunder wieder einen Touchdown. Diesmal jedoch mit einer "Conversion" an Stelle des klassischen Extrapunktes, was insgesamt dann 8 Punkte einbrachte. Dann gab es noch einen Fieldgoal-Versuch den unser Kicker aber wieder versemmelte (leider!). 5 Minuten nach Beginn des letzten Viertels folgte Touchdown Nummer 3 so daß es letztlich 10 Minuten vor Schluß 22:3 stand... FÜR UNS!!!!!
After that, the game went on... it was about half of the third Quarter done, when Thunder made another touchdown followed by a Conversion (which gained us 8 points instead of 6 or 7) Then again our Kicker missed a Fieldgoal... Finally after 5 minutes of the third Quarter Thunder made another Touchdown... So that finally n10 Minutes before the end it Thunder had the LEAD with 22:3!!!
Und was dann kam... das ist einfach unglaublich... unbegreiflich....

Es war unbegreiflich... Es IST unbegreiflich... Auf einmal lief bei den Frankfurtern alles... Jeder Pass saß! Und ich glaube am Schluß waren die Spieler von Thunder genauso geschockt wie die Fans... Unglaublich...

It just was beyond comprehension... It just is beyond comprehension... All of a sudden everything Frankfurt tried, did work! Every pass hit it's aim... And I guess at the end the players of Thunder had been as shocked as the Fans....
Ich... ich... *Kopf-schüttel* Ich weiß echt nicht was ich dazu noch sagen soll... Unglaublich...

Berlin Thunder vs. Rhein Fire 17:24
Fr. 8.Juni 2007, Kick Off 19.00
Das erste Freitagsspiel in der Geschichte von Berlin Thunder... Und ich fürchte es wird der kürzeste Bericht seit langem...
The first game in the history of Berlin Thunder that was on a Friday... And I fear this will be the shortest report in a loooong time....
Denn: Es gab keine Power-Party, oder Fanfest oder wie auch immer...
Because: There was no Power-Party or Fanfest or whatever you will call it...
Statt dessen gab es ab 18.00 im Stadion einen Auftritt der 70er Jahre Coverband "Disco Inferno" die Songs wie "We Are Family" oder "I Will Survive" gesungen haben. Die Fans durften dazu (um besser sehen zu können) sogar in den unteren Teil VIP-Blocks... aber ich möchte da nicht sitzen, da fehlt einem der Überblick über's Spielfeld. Aber so konnte ich wenigstens zum Fotos machen etwas dichter ran.
Instead there was a concert at 18.00 by a 70s coverband called "Disco Inferno", who played songs like "we are family" or "I will survive". The fans were even allowed to go into the lower part of the VIP-area to be nearer to the band, to have a better view... But honestly, I don't wanna sit there during the game, because there you don't have the overview over the filed. But in this case it was good, at least for making pictures.
Aber ... naja, wie soll ich es sagen... So richtig für Stimmung hat das ganze nicht gesorgt. Aber ehrlich gesagt war es ja so dermaßen heiß und schwül, daß ich sowieso nicht damit gerechnet hatte, daß die Fans da VOR dem Spiel groß Party machen.
But... well, how shall I say it... It wasn't lightening the mood among the fans... it was just the wrong music PLUS it was far too hot and the air was to thick. And honestly I didn't thought there would be much partying BEFORE the game...
Dann kam der Einmarsch der Spieler und es wurden wieder beide Nationalhymnen (USA und Deutschland) gesungen... Tja, und dann begann auch schon das Spiel...
Then the players came into the stadium and the national anthems (USA and Germany) were performed again... Well and then the game started...
Und DANN brach im Stadion die Hölle los! Ich weiß nicht ob das an der schwülen Luft gelegen hat, oder ob die Fans bei der Hitze einfach etwas mehr abgedreht waren aber mir kam das echt mega-laut vor. Toll!
And THEN the fans made a party... Oh what a party... I don't know of it was because of the thick air or if the fans just got a little more crazy because of the weather, but as always when it is that hot, the fans had been sooooooo loud, much louder than usual... Great!
Das Spiel selber fing eigentlich ganz gut an. Unsere Jungs haben auch schnell einen Touchdown gemacht der uns Fans wieder hoffen ließ. Doch Rhein Fire war auch nicht so schlecht, so das es erst 7:7 und dann 7:14 stand. (Unserer Abwehr schien es auch zu heiß gewesen zu sein.)
The game itself started good again... Thunder made a quick Touchdown, which let the hope grow again. But Also Fire made a Touchdown and a little later another one, so that it was first 7:7 and then 7:14... (I guess for our defence it was also a little too hot.)
Von Thunder folgte im zweiten Viertel dann ein Fieldgoal und etwas später ein weiterer Touchdown zum 17:14... es ging wirklich Schlag auf Schlag...
In the second Quarter Thunder began with a Fieldgoal and a Touchdown a little later so that it was 17:14 at that time... really a good game so far...
Dann - Thunder hatte den Ball gerade erst erobert gehabt - war unser Quarterback so unter Druck, daß er den Ball direkt in die Arme eines Spielers von Rhein Fire spielte... und der machte dann einen Touchdown! Und nach einem weiteren Fieldgoal stand es zur Halbzeit 17:24!
Then - Thunder had just gained the ball - our Quarterback was strongly under pressure so that he threw the ball right into the hands of a player from Rhine Fire... and this guy than made a touchdown! And after another Fieldgoal from them it was 17:24 at the halftime.
In der Halbzeit traten die Cheerleader nochmals auf... Ja, ich glaube das war alles... Und es war immer noch sooooooooo heiß!
During the halftime break the cheerleaders were performing again... Yes, I think that was all... and it was still sooooooooo hot!
In der zweiten Halbzeit passierte dann nichts mehr... Thunder versuchte zwar noch alles, aber es klappte nicht. Damit war der Halbzeitstand dann auch der Endstand. *seufz* Aber da Thunder am Ende der Saison eh immer entweder ganz oben, oder ganz unten ist, hat mich das nicht weiter überrascht. Aber wenigstens EIN Heimsieg hätte es schon sein können!
In the second half of the game, nothing more happened... Thunder tried everything but it just didn't work. And Rhine Fire played also not really better...And so the final result stayed like this: 17:24! *sigh* But because Thunder is usually at the end of the season either on top or the last in the ranking, I somehow expected this result.
Nach dem Spiel folgte dann noch ein großes, schönes, aber leider sehr kurzes Feuerwerk!
After the game there was a great and beautiful but sadly much too short firework!
Die Fans durften auch in den Innenraum um sich von den Spielern Autogramme geben zu lassen... Was ich nicht gemacht habe, da ich mich nicht mehr so ganz wohl gefühlt habe (Halsschmerzen... ich glaube ich bekomme ne Erkältung!). Außerdem haben die Fans noch ihre beliebtesten Spieler geehrt. Chris Barclay, der Mann mit dem 99-Yards Run zum Touchdown beim Auswärtsspiel gegen Köln, und meiner Meinung nach der beste Spieler unseres Teams in dieser Saison bekam auch einen...
Das Witzigste war aber die Heimfahrt... Schon auf der S-Bahnstation haben uns die Mücken geplagt... Und natürlich sind sie uns auch in den Zug gefolgt... Und so dusselig das auch klingen mag, es war echt schon komisch die aufgekratzen, und trotz allem gut gelaunten Fans zu beobachten wie sie versuchten die Viehcher zu erschlagen... dauernd klatschte es irgendwo, was von lauten Gelächter begleitet wurde... *lol*
But the most funniest thing happened during my way home. On the train station we already had to fight a lot against mosquitoes, and those little bucks of course followed us inside the rain... And as stupid as that sounds, it was funny to see how the hyperactive, still partying fans tried to catch them... there were hand clapping and laughter everywhere... *lol*

Die Saison war spielerisch gesehen einfach nur Mist! Aber das muß halt auch mal sein... oder nicht??? Alles andere wäre doch langweilig...
Well... from the games, this season was just bad! But I don't mind. It would be boring if we would win every time...
Und immerhin hatten wir einen herausragenden Spieler: Chris Barcley! Dieser 99 Yard-Lauf war echt wahnsinn!!! Schade, daß ich DA nicht dabei war! Aber in diesem Jahr schien sich anscheinend alles gute immer nur Auswärts abzuspielen.
And at least we had one real amazing player: Chris Barcley! That 99 yard run was really awesome!!! Sadly I hadn't seen that live, but as it seems all good things happened at away-games this year.
Dennoch... Es hat wie immer tierischen Spaß gemacht!
Anyway... I had a lot of fun in this season!
